COVID-19 Update

Dear sector colleague,

Following cases of COVID-19 in Western Australia late last week, restricted zones were declared in Western Australia in the Perth and Peel Regions and restrictions were put in place relating to travel from these areas into South Australia.

I am pleased to advise that as at 4.50pm 27 April 2021, entry from these restricted zones (Perth and Peel Regions) of Western Australia is permitted.

Whilst travel restrictions have been lifted, anyone who has been in the Perth or Peel Regions on or after 17 April 2021 must:
  • get tested as soon as possible and quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
  • get tested on day 5 and day 13 after arrival. There is no requirement to quarantine after receiving a negative result in the first test, unless symptomatic.
  • not attend a COVID Management Plan event for 14 days after arrival.
  • not enter a high risk setting for 14 days after arrival, unless they meet requirements to be permitted (i.e. urgent medical care or end of life visit). High risk settings include disability and aged care or correctional facilities and an emergency department, intensive care unit, respiratory ward or oncology ward of a private or public hospital.
More information and advice is available at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDcontacttracing.

Anyone currently in quarantine from a restricted zone will be able to leave quarantine after receiving a negative COVID-19 test result in the first test, unless they have been otherwise directed by SA Health.

A copy of the new Direction, is available at www.covid-19.sa.gov.au.

Disability provider alerts - COVID-19 vaccination rollout

New editions of the NDIS COVID-19 Vaccine Provider Alert and Australian Government Department of Health Disability Provider Alert are now available.

The DOH Disability Provider Alert contains important information about the continued rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine for people with disability living in residential accommodation eligible under phase 1a.

In addition, the alert contains an update on how disability workers will be able to access the vaccine.

Australian Government agencies have also developed useful information for employers about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Further information on the rollout to the residential disability sector in South Australia will be provided as it comes to hand.
