As promised I said in a previous newsletter that I would let everyone know when entries opened for our first community art exhibition, 'Time on my Hands', which fingers crossed, will take place as a live in the flesh event in August this year. This is not just for professional artists, it's for anyone who wants to share their creativity and story of lockdown.
Entries don't close until early June, so you still have time to make something that can help share your story of lockdown. My series of 13 clocks are now complete and merrily ticking away in my studio. I'm not sure the batteries will remain in them all until August but at least I know they all work.
It's been nice to see some of you recently although I understand there is still some caution being exercised in visiting shops. Everyone that has visited so far has respected the covid related measures we have in place, which is great. This ensures that everyone is kept safe until the vaccine programme reaches all age groups and has made my return much less stressful, so thank you.
We do have lots of lovely new stock, including ceramics, cards, activity kits and new creatures, with glass due in the two weeks. I have made some lamb baby slippers, from unbleached Cheviot wool which are proving to be popular as new baby gifts. I'm sure shopping is the last thing on your mind at the moment and the bank holiday weekend will hopefully be a sunny one for you all to enjoy some much-needed relaxation.
Both Geoff and myself are taking next week as annual holiday so the shop will be closed. Keeping a business going during lockdown is a lot more stressful than being 'open as usual', so having managed that we are taking a week to unwind and the shop will re-open on Tuesday 11th May.
