National Maternity Dashboard - December data
December's maternity data submissions are available to view from the National Maternity Dashboard listing key measures and metrics for maternity care. December's data is the most complete submission since the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) was uplifted to a new version and the dashboard presents an easy way to view historical changes and compare Clinical Quality Improvement Metrics (CQIMs) and other measures with comparable maternity providers.
The data is still labelled as experimental as we work to improve Data Quality (DQ) with both NHS Digital and NHSX supporting improvements and tools to use by maternity providers. Reconciling your local data with the National Dashboard will help trace any DQ issues that may need to be addressed and increase the value of the dashboard for measuring maternity care.
Any feedback or queries with the dashboard please email. england.maternitytransformation@nhs.net
Future NHS Collaboration Platform (Collaboration Hub)
As a resource available to the maternity providers community and partners the
Future Collaboration platform is a useful tool to share and exchange information and resources. The platform is grouped into distinct areas for easy navigation and also offers a forum for requesting information - or highlighting work that has been particularly successful.
The most
recent topics in the Forum are:
- A request for Gap Analysis Tools or templates
- Information for managing high risk birth in low risk settings
- Peer support for breast feeding
The forum is open to all members and any member can start a new forum topic to ask for guidance and experiences from other hub members.

10 Steps: Developing engagement plans - with a maternity focus
8th June, 0930-1600
This course presents the well-established 10 Steps model that sets out what must be considered when developing engagement plans and building partnerships with people and communities. For this session we are targeting people working in Local Maternity Services – while the content will be the same as other 10 Steps sessions, having a targeted audience means discussions can focus on this area of work.
Working with people and communities is one of the most important ways we can ensure that the NHS meets the needs of patients and the public. By engaging with people in meaningful discussion of the collective challenges we face, and of how to overcome these, we can tap into the diverse experiences, insights and ideas that patients and the public bring. (This engagement includes, for example, working with Maternity Voices Partnerships.)
