A World of Reasons to be Prepared

When emergencies and disasters hit close to home, it’s vital for communities and individuals to be prepared – for a world of reasons! That’s the key message locally of Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week), a national program that runs from May 2-8.

This year’s “World of Reasons” theme encourages everyone to think about all the important reasons why preparation is so important – to individuals, their families and their communities. And in this pandemic year, preparedness starts with vaccination and with observing public health guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19. We can overcome this pandemic, together, by doing our part to stay safe and protected. Share your reasons for getting the vaccination on social media with the hashtag #AWorldOfReasons.

​WEVax Vaccination Awareness Campaign Launched

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, the City of Windsor and the County of Essex, Windsor Regional Hospital and Erie Shores HealthCare want to ensure that you know where to turn for the latest information as vaccination opportunities become available to different groups in our region.

Together we are launching WEVax, a vaccination awareness campaign providing local residents with the latest information on available opportunities, eligible ages and how to register for your COVID-19 vaccination. Residents can visit WEVax.ca to learn more.

In the coming days and weeks, residents will begin seeing WEVax.ca on social media. WEVax.ca brings people directly to the health unit’s vaccination web page where they can quickly determine if they are eligible for a vaccination, find out how they can register and find answers to several commonly asked questions.

During a major crisis, emergency or severe weather event, City of Windsor officials will send event updates, warnings and instructions directly to you on any of your devices. Windsor Alerts is the official emergency communications service for the City of Windsor, Ontario.
