In our gospel reading this coming Sunday (John 15:1-8), we'll hear Jesus remind us that he is the true vine, and we are the branches who must "abide" and stay connected to him, so that we can "bear much fruit and become [his] disciples" (John 15:8). Indeed, growing into discipleship is a lifelong endeavor, and so, we must stay connected to the Source of our life, so that we can be nourished and strengthened. It also occurs to me that it's important for us to encourage and help each other remain connected, so that together we may produce and share the abundant harvest that gives glory to God.
I hope you'll be able to join us in worship this Sunday, as we have an opportunity to hear Bishop Laurie Larson Caesar of our own Oregon Synod bring us the message via video. Bishop Caesar is a refreshingly grounded spiritual leader and an excellent preacher, and I'm sure you'll be blessed by her words.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Michelle Manicke
