Self-Healing Page

Hello, hope you are all keeping well,

This newsletter should be of use for your selfhealing endeavours.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer starts 5 May this year.

Remember, the next Qigong, Tai Chi and Meditation classes start 4 May 2021.

Therefore we have a week left to stimulate the Liver and Gall-Bladder. Here are some tips to help that. The benefits are in the newsletter from two weeks ago.

Avoid the following when nourishing your Liver, it helps recovery and gives it a rest:

  • Wheat (contains gluten, which can cause constipation, bloating, fatigue and anaemia, as well as coeliac disease.) Alternative flours: Spelt, buckwheat, rice, corn, soya, amaranth and quinoa, gram, millet, potato and tapioca

  • Milk, has a protein that can cause an allergic reaction. The immune system may treat milk protein as a toxin and occupy the liver function too much, leaving other toxins in the blood. Try soya milk instead.

  • Caffeine can sap energy. Cut out coffee for nine days for reduced weight gain, better hydration, lower stress levels and better sleep.

  • Alcohol is an intestinal irritant. and has been shown to increase the risk of mouth, throat, intestinal and liver cancers. It also destroys nutrients, including B and C vitamins, magnesium and zinc.

  • Bad fats Trans-fats, like deep fried foods and hydrogenated vegetable oils can interrupt the brain's thought processes by blocking the conversion of essential fats into vital brain fats, such as GLA and prostaglandins. Olive and coconut oils are the best alternatives.

  • Processed salt, try sea salt from the health food shop.

  • Processed foods, use unsprayed, naturally grown food for optimumb energy derived from food. Good air and food provide our chi energy.

  • Drugs and medicines (especially painkillers), use these sparingly if you must. Your body needs to know it is unwell so you may correct it at the root.

  • Environmental pollutants, such as cigarette smoke, pesticides and chemicals. Go for walks in the park or countryside, not along a road.

Aiding and soothing the Gall-bladder:

  • Drink a cup of warm lemon water first thing in the morning.

  • Eat sulphur rich foods e.g. garlic, onions, cruciferous veg; cabbage, turnip, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, to balance blood-sugar and oestrogen, and reduce inflammation.

  • Practise Qigong.

  • Meditate.

The on-line Qigong lessons starting May 4 2021 are all about Qigong and Meditation stimulating the liver at the moment, we will start with the spleen soon and move to the Heart straight after that.
