Delta Zeta Phoenix Chapter Philanthroppy
In 1954, Delta Zeta's Convention body voted to make the cause of speech and hearing our national philanthropy. In addition, Delta Zeta has national partnerships focused on speech and hearing-related causes with Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University.

Our national philanthropies are supported by both collegiate and our alumnae chapters. The DZ Phoenix Alumnae chapter presented our first scholarship at Phoenix Day School for the Deaf at the very first high school graduation in 1983. The Delta Zeta Phoenix Alumnae/Claudia Edwards Hosking Memorial Scholarship is made possible by generous donations and fundraisers that are held throughout the year by our Alumnae as well as our collegiate chapter here at ASU.

It is our honor to present a $1,000 scholarship to Isabel Ballard to be used to further her educational goals. She plans to attend Cosmetology school in the Fall. Congratulations to Isabel Ballard!!

Save Your Seat at the 2021 Delta Zeta National Convention!

Delta Zeta’s 54th National Convention will be held virtually from July 15-18, 2021. We originally postponed our 54th Convention to 2021 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, and current COVID restrictions in the state of California, where Convention was to be held, does not allow large meeting gatherings in their state at this time. However, because of our virtual environment, we are thrilled to offer the opportunity to each of you to join us for the weekend and experience all that Convention has in store!

While our official delegates will conduct the important business of Delta Zeta Sorority during their business meetings, you will have the opportunity to sit in and learn about the changes they will make for the future of our sisterhood. You will also have the opportunity to hear from amazing speakers to further your personal development, make connections with your Delta Zeta sisters all over the world and, of course, have fun shopping at  and , our official jeweler!

Speakers include:

  • , President and CEO of The Center for Leadership Excellence, For College For Life
  • , Founder and CEO of Women Empower X, CAMPUSPEAK
  • , Founder and Executive Director of Thriving Elements
  • , Non Executive Director, Chimeric Therapeutics ASX: CHM

Keep an eye on the Convention website as we announce additional speakers in the coming weeks.

And – be on the lookout for a special Truly Connected opportunity, only for Convention registrants. It will take place on July 15, kicking off the weekend with professional development and networking! The exclusive Truly Connected event will be available as an additional program to add to your schedule in June. More details will be emailed to all registrants at that time.

Registration for National Convention is open May 3 – June 1, 2021 and is $50 per person, which must be paid at the time of registration. Cancellations are allowed through June 30, 2021 for a full refund. Space is limited, and once all seats are claimed, registration will be closed.

Click  to register, and join us in making Delta Zeta history! We look forward to having you join us this summer from the comfort of your own home as we share in a weekend of sisterhood!

What is the Delta Zeta Virtual Book Club Reading?
Our June selection to read is Olive Kitteridge by Eizabeth Strout. In a voice more powerful and compassionate than ever before, New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Strout binds together thirteen rich, luminous narratives into a book with the heft of a novel, through the presence of one larger-than-life, unforgettable character: Olive Kitteridge.

At the edge of the continent, Crosby, Maine, may seem like nowhere, but seen through this brilliant writer’s eyes, it’s in essence the whole world, and the lives that are lived there are filled with all of the grand human drama–desire, despair, jealousy, hope, and love.

“Fiction lovers, remember this name: Olive Kitteridge. . . . You’ll never forget her. . . . [Elizabeth Strout] constructs her stories with rich irony and moments of genuine surprise and intense emotion. . . . Glorious, powerful stuff.”—USA Today
Our May book was Outlawed Even if you have not read the book you are invited to join us for the discussion on May 4. Our monthly book is chosen based on conversation starting story lines. The DZ book club virtual zoom event to discuss Outlawed will be June 1 at 7pm. We always meet the first Tuesday of the month. Click link to join discussion.

Congratulations to Kristen Martin one of our DZ's from ASU
Kristen released her 9th book on May 11. According to Kristen it amazes her how quickly this book came together (She only wrote the first draft in November 2020!) and she has been revising and polishing it ever since. BEYOND THE STARS AND SHADOWS is unique for many reasons, being as it’s metaphysical fiction and her only standalone novel, but it’s also unique because it was born in isolation, during the pandemic. These characters held space for her to pour some of her own really challenging “Earthling” experiences into their own stories. They made her feel safe and certain during a time that was anything but. They helped her feel connected to something when she felt entirely and utterly alone 💙

Our Pi Zeta Chapter at ASU News
Congratulations Caitlin!
Meet Caitlin Danielle Perkins! Recipient of a Phoenix Panhellenic Association Scholarship Award, Caitlin is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority’s Pi Zeta Chapter at Arizona State University, where she will be a junior in fall 2021. She is majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a goal to attend medical school and focus on treating diabetes. In her chapter, Caitlin has served as Academics Chair on the Executive Board, Panhellenic Delegate, and as a team-member for Continuous Open Bidding Committee and New Member Committee. Caitlin has served ASU as a mentor for freshman students through the Link Crew and is a member of numerous health-care focused groups on campus.
A sorority sister of Caitlin’s shared, “From the time she was a new member in our organization, Caitlin has continuously chased and achieved involvement in so many different ways. Attending all events, volunteering for committees, chairwoman positions, and much more. She is an inspiration to me and many other women.” In her application Caitlin shared, “I am consistently working towards instilling the importance of education to our members and being of support to those who may need guidance in their education. Membership in Delta Zeta has impacted my life to an extent that was unimaginable. Through being a leader in my community, I have learned more about myself and have been able to further develop the skills that were instilled in me prior to my position. It is important to me to be a support to my sisters because they have been a huge support in my lifestyle change and diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. I intend to continue my leadership with the chapter even after I have graduated from the university by instilling the knowledge I gained as a member of Delta Zeta to those who come after me."
