UMNS reports that the Judicial Council declines to rule on the constitutionality of the Protocol, citing "that taking an early action on the constitutionality of the Protocol could potentially place a constitutional seal of approval on one proposed legislative item."

Bering Memorial Church in Houston, TX, is the latest to vote to disaffiliate from The UMC. UMNS reports on Bering's vote and developments from other recently disaffiliated churches.

With gratitude to Cynthia Astle of UM Insight: "Now is the time for United Methodists to protect transgender children from such abuse and to defend transgender persons everywhere. If you live in one of the states listed below where anti-transgender legislation is proposed, we urge you to contact your legislators and oppose these bills. Children and youths need our protection from this prejudice right now."

The Christmas Covenant team is hosting a Call to Prayer on May 8th, when General Conference was originally scheduled to meet for a special session, to remember the lives lost to the pandemic, pray for the sick, and lift up the justice and compassion ministries of The UMC.

Our ecumenical friends at Church of St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Chicago are seeking applicants for their Murray Fellows program. This is a mentorship program for young adults ages 18-30 from all Christian traditions,
in discernment for all types of lay and ordained vocations in ministry.

Today at 12pm ET | 9am PT, Parents Reconciling Network (PRN) and the United Methodist Alliance for Transgender Inclusion (UMATI) are teaming up to talk about the basics of gender identity. This is the third part of the series, so if you've already seen Parts 1 and 2, this will be new content.
