The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted virtually every part of the U.S. economy in the past year, and wreaked havoc on people’s daily lives. Housing markets are no exception. In a recent policy brief, Schuetz explores the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on housing markets in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orlando, and New Orleans. She joins Claremont Graduate University President Len Jessup and Executive Director of Brookings Mountain West Robert Lang to explore the effectiveness of the federal government’s interventions in this area, what challenges remain, and what lessons can be drawn for future policies.

Schuetz has written extensively on land use regulation, housing prices, urban amenities, and neighborhood change. Schuetz has discussed her research through multiple outlets, appearing in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Financial Times, The Economist, Vox, and Slate. Schuetz was also a speaker in the Brookings Mountain West event, Housing - Las Vegas and the Middle Class, where she discussed the findings from her policy brief "Should Las Vegas Bet on Homeownership? Trends in Housing Affordability and Homeownership."
