We ESPECIALLY need to have a quorum for this meeting for two reasons. The first and most important reason is so that we can go ahead and elect a ministerial search committee. As soon as we have folks elected by the congregation for this committee, they start with the prep work for the process of selecting a new settled minister for GUUF. We’re on the front end of the timeline for electing a search committee, so we want to keep our “early bird” status and give them plenty of time to get this job done right for us. If we don’t have a quorum on Sunday, we have to pick another date, send out the notice of the meeting and wait 10 days before we can try again.
The second reason is that everyone has heard about bylaws revisions for months on end now. We just need to get it done NOW and move on with more important aspects of our religious and community life. Even our dedicated Bylaws task force, some of whom allegedly LIKE bylaw revision work, are ready to be finished with this project!
If you absolutely cannot attend the Zoom webinar and would like to vote absentee on the two motions as stated in the notice you received (which, unfortunately doesn't count toward the quorum), we are extending the time for getting the absentee ballots back until Saturday at noon. You can either
click here for an ABSENTEE BALLOT or email
office@greenvilleuu.org for assistance. Either mail your ballot asap to GUUF, PO Box 4518, Greenville, SC 29608, or take a photo of the completed ballot and email it to
office@greenvilleuu.org.
If you have trouble logging into the meeting on Sunday, call the GUUF office and our administrator, Karen Kniffin, will assist you: (864) 271-4883. Once the meeting is underway, if you experience any technical problems, call Jan Humphrey, who has graciously agreed to help: (864) 483-1387.
Once you are in the meeting, Sarah Russell will “launch the first poll,” where you’ll have to say that you are a member and whether one or two members is voting, so that we can see if we have a quorum. Assuming we do, and when we have a motion on the floor that we are considering, if you would like to speak, please look at the bottom of your Zoom screen, either under “Reactions” on a laptop or “More” on a phone and click on “Raise Hand.” Chris Corry is going to make sure I don’t miss seeing a raised hand, and when I recognize you as having the floor, you will be unmuted and you can speak.
If you have any questions about procedures, please send them to
office@greenvilleuu.org, and we’ll try to answer any questions. Many thanks to all of you!
