IAFL Medical Initiative

         ITIAH Angels for Learning’s (IAFL) mission focuses on providing education and wellness to impoverished children in Haiti. In aligning with this goal, nutritional education and medical aid efforts are underway. IAFL has begun to collaborate with École Mère Louise (EML) to provide the first phase of medical consultation under the leadership of Dr. Jean Luther Thermidor. The goal is to provide students a complete physical assessment and optimize their health. Included with the physical examination are: laboratory findings and recommendations for follow-up. It was very important to have the students’ parents and guardians be involved in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

IAFL Vitamin Report

     Haiti’s undernourishment rate in 2016-2018 was at 49.3%, meaning that approximately half of the population is unable to reach their caloric requirements.  In November 2020, ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) completed its first medical consultation on 30 girls at the École Mère Louise School (EML). We noticed that the girls had vitamin B-complex, vitamin A, vitamin D, and iron sulfate deficiencies. Many of the children fail to eat three meals a day and thus, perpetuate the issue of malnutrition.

IAFL to Present Fashion with Caribbean Flair

        ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) is ending June in fashion… Caribbean fashion! Join us on Friday, June 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for a fun and colorful virtual fashion show to honor Caribbean culture, community and empowerment! The theme is “A Flair of the Caribbean” with a focus on the beautiful colors of the Haitian flag: red, blue, and gold.

Get Fit with ITIAH

     

         Join ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) and Mark Radio of Body Elite the third Saturday of each month for a virtual one-hour, total body workout class. The next class is May 15 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Designed to increase strength and conditioning, the class is open for all ages and fitness levels. This is IAFL’s way to give back to our own community. Commit to get fit with minimal equipment!
