Ongoing intersection upgrades at SW Orchard St
For the next few weeks, we will continue to demolish and upgrade the intersection at SW Orchard St and Delridge Way SW. We will upgrade the entire intersection in phases. Each phase will take approximately 1 week to finish.
In order to shift traffic around the work zones, we will need to reduce travel to one lane in each direction on both Delridge Way SW and SW Orchard St. You can expect heavy traffic through this area while this work takes place. A uniformed police officer will be at the intersection to help people navigate through the area.

Work happening this week and next week For all work described below, residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any anticipated impacts. Dates for construction activities scheduled are subject to change depending upon weather.
This week, we worked with our Urban Forestry team and their contractors to begin landscaping throughout Zone A
This work will require us to temporarily restrict parking near our work zones. Our work zones will be limited to the planting strips near sidewalks and the roadway median.
Upcoming demolition and paving on Delridge Way SW (east side)
Sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades continue in Zone A
We will continue upgrading sidewalks and curb ramps at SW Hudson St and Puget Blvd SW into early May
We will also begin building the median and pedestrian islands near Puget Blvd SW in late April
Upcoming demolition and paving on Delridge Way SW (west side)
Sidewalk upgrades throughout Zone A
We will continue upgrading the sidewalks and curb ramps near SW Brandon St through April
Roadway upgrades on the west side of SW Hudson St between Delridge Way SW and 25th Ave SW continue
Upcoming roadway upgrades in North Delridge
Beginning as early as the week of May 3, we will upgrade the roadway between the West Seattle Bridge and SW Dakota St
We will mill and overlay the roadway, which consists of grinding off the top layer of the roadway and replacing the surface
This method of upgrading roads is less noisy than traditional demolition and paving, though you should still anticipate noise, dust, and vibration during this work

We finished working on the southeast section of the intersection this week
We will aim to complete one section of the intersection each week
This work is weather dependent and subject to change
Some of this work may occur overnight. A uniformed police officer will be present to help people navigate through this area at all times
Bus stop upgrades in Zone C continue into May
Bus stop upgrades at SW Thistle St on the west side of Delridge Way SW rescheduled
We will begin demolishing the southwest corner of SW Thistle St in early May
This work will last for several weeks as we upgrade electrical utilities and rebuild the roadway, curb ramps, and sidewalks in this area
Bus stop upgrades at SW Trenton St on the west side of Delridge Way SW continue
We will pour the roadway, curb ramps, and sidewalks next week
This work will continue into May
Ongoing intersection upgrades at SW Kenyon St
SW Kenyon St intersection upgrades resume next week
The next phase of this work is scheduled to begin on April 16
A uniformed police officer will be stationed at the intersection at all times to help direct traffic
We will finish this work by the end of the week
Potholing for duct bank work resumes on Delridge Way SW
Utility, sidewalk, and driveway upgrades will last for several weeks
Roadwork near 21st Ave SW continues
Paving in this section will continue for several more weeks
We will shift traffic around our work zones as each lane is poured and cured
We will remain in the area for several more weeks to upgrade stormwater utilities and install curbs
In early May, we will begin pouring concrete at the new RapidRide station
We are also planning to rebuild the intersection where 21st Ave SW meets Delridge Way SW
Demolition and paving will occur in May
21st Ave SW will be fully closed during this time

At the City of Seattle, we are continuing to follow guidance from federal, state, and local leaders and our public health partners regarding COVID-19.
