Search Team Letter

Many folks may be asking, why is the Rev. Molly Brewer the “best candidate for CUUB?” The Search Team arrived at the recommendation to present Reverend Brewer as our candidate after taking a close look at what we heard from you, our fellow congregants. We then set to work finding those qualities in a number of candidates.

Here is a summary of what you told us:

What do you perceive the top three functions of our
minister to be?
  1. Worship (31%)
  2. Pastoral Care (21%)
  3. Social Justice (14%)
We believe Rev. Molly more than satisfies these congregational priorities.

Rev. Molly’s Sunday Service during pre-candidating weekend was imaginative and inspiring. As an artist, Rev. Molly brings a well-developed creative mind, a warm and loving heart, and a bright intellect, all of which we believe will serve our congregation very well.

Faer references were glowing about the impact Rev. Molly had on them, "magical" was one word used.

We also appreciate faer positive and hopeful outlook, faer optimistic yet grounded perspective, and faer unapologetic social justice ethic.

The Search Team believes that Rev. Molly will inspire young people in our area looking for a spiritual home and intellectually and spiritually challenge each of us in new ways.

The Unitarian Universalist Association has designed a search process that places the many complex pieces of the puzzle in the hands of a small group of folks who work to fit all the pieces together. It’s a bit like those hours of fun you may have had putting a very hard puzzle together with friends.

We, as a team, really valued this process, especially because most other denominations are told by their hierarchy who will be assigned to minister to them. While that may be much easier, it often does not honor the wishes of the congregation.

On behalf our whole Team and with great appreciation for the trust you place in us.
Lee Anzicek, Search Team Chair, Dave Beeman, Cait Warner, Sarah Neidert, Sue Kelly, Carrie Kempf, Erika Warner and Simon Ren

FACES

Spring is the time of year that FACES typically starts thinking and planning the annual CUUB garage sale, which brings in money from the local community. Sadly, due to the recent COVID surge and restrictions on building usage, we will not be having the garage sale this year. Please do not bring garage sale items to CUUB at this time, as we do not have the facilities to store the items at this time, nor do we have access to the building. We hope to resume the garage sale next year at this time. We look forward to receiving your donations at that time, as well as your giving assistance in this fun and labor intensive fund raiser.

Please stay tuned for exciting news about a new CUUB event organized by the FACES team! Further information is to come in Sunday announcements and CUUB newsletters

Rev. Julie's Corner

Dear CUUB Community,

I could not put into words what a joy and honor it has been to be your minister over the past five years.  Things haven’t always been perfect, but we have built an authentic relationship and stewarded a fantastic community together.  Leaving is always hard, but I’m so excited for what comes next for this community.  Over the next few weeks you will be seeing less and less of me.  As we move into candidating week, I will be stepping back to make room for you to imagine your new minister in my place. This is a normal and appropriate part of the process of saying goodbye to one minister and preparing to welcome another one.  I will also make sure we have a really good and cathartic goodbye.  Please mark May 23rd on your calendars for a goodbye ceremony and party!  Here is what I want you to know.  You are not alone.  I’m still here for you, I’m still your minister until I say goodbye on May 23rd.  If there is something you need from me, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  I am looking forward to the rest of our time together.

In faith,
Rev. Julie Brock
