Autumn Festival at Chrysalis this week...

This week we were finally able to celebrate our Autumn Festival together at Chrysalis. Throughout the year, our school celebrates festivals to connect and reconnect us to nature, to establish a yearly rhythm and to strengthen, grow and enliven our community.
The Autumn Festival celebrates the changes experienced as we move away from summer towards winter. Now, a month since the Autumn Equinox we feel the crispness in the evenings and mornings, we experience the dew through the grass, we see the seeds ripen and the nuts swell, we hear the change in animal calls, we see the golden sunsets of Autumn in the skies and woven right through the plant world, we look up into the starry heavens and can enjoy snuggling down beneath our doonas once more.
The Autumn Festival inspires us to courageously conquer our dragons, both internal and external, as we prepare for the darker nights ahead. We hope that for all those that were able to join us for our festival yesterday, that you enjoyed celebrating Autumn with us.
Thank you for joining us.

Parent talk by Tom from Berry Street...
We were thrilled to see such a great number of parents come together at the Thora Hall on Tuesday night to hear from Dr Tom Brunzell from Berry Street. He spoke on strategies to support our children and young people to thrive. Over the last two years Tom has been joining us on the Thora Campus to help bolster staff practices at Chrysalis to in turn support the school community to strengthen the connections between school and home, and extend the strategies that teachers are learning into the community.

Call out for Copper...
If anyone in the wider community is able to access free or cheap copper for our weekly copperwork class, please could you let us know through the office.

Insights into our recent Professional Development...
At Chrysalis, Professional Development provides an important beginning to every term. All of the sessions bring nourishment to all. Often it includes new ideas and perspectives which shine a new way of approaching our work or something we can bring in addition to what we already are doing. A school where all are involved in learning is said to in itself help the children learn more and also appreciate learning.
This term we had two days. The first day was centered around inner development, with Paulette Bray-Narai who introduced the first stages of how to work with non-violent communication. Her presentation was clear and the information insightful, helping us to understand, more deeply the nature of conflict so that everyone has the opportunity to learn more about themselves and others with the hope of turning difficult conversations into important ones.
On the second day, we welcomed back Dr Tom Bruznell for his third visit. He presented two components from 'The Berry Street Education Model'. The titles were Stamina and Engagement. Tom is a captivating presenter with a wonderful capacity to open up topics layer by layer looking at what creates challenging behaviors, learning how to read them and offer positive ways to help forge a path towards new understandings and growth in the children, and in the adults who are there to serve and lead them in their learning process. I am sure this work will continue to have a resounding effect on all who were there and the children's Education Towards Freedom.
Warm Wishes Gail Sprott

Save the Date Maintenance Day (Working Bee)...
On Sunday 23 May, between 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM, we will be hosting our Term 2 working bee. Participation on this day leads to the re-crediting of the $100 Maintenance Levy charged to families for Term 2. More importantly, it is an opportunity to come together as a Community and improve the campus for our children. Registration is necessary to allow us to plan the work and catering for lunch, and is also required for COVID-19 safety planning. Because of this, we ask that you register with Admin (admin@chrysalis.nsw.edu.au or 66558616) no later than Friday 14 May.

Coming Back Together After Town School...

It is a delight to be back together again at Chrysalis this week.  We have been strengthened as a team through our need to come together during the adversity of the recent remote schooling options and enlivened by our ability to be responsive, reflective and adaptable as a whole school.

Morning Star need Slippers...
Do you have an old pair of Sun Sole Slippers laying around from your child's Morning Star days? Paige is putting out the call, if you have an old pair of Sun Sole Slippers you would be happy to pass on to current Morning Star children, please send them into the Thora Campus office so they can be reused and keep our little Morning Star feet warm in the winter months!
