Hello Market Friends,

While yesterday was officially Earth Day, we like to celebrate our beautiful earth every day! We hope you'll take a moment this weekend (and always) to do a little something to honor our environment. Whether you plant a tree, pick up trash in your neighborhood, bring your own bags to the store, use reusable straws and utensils, or bike/walk to where you need to go, every little action we all take goes a long way.

And did you know that shopping at farmers markets is good for the environment too? Our farmers use organic practices, reducing the amount of pesticides and chemicals that pollute our soil and water and they promote sustainability. In addition, farmers markets preserve America’s rural livelihoods and farmland, increase access to fresh, nutritious food, and support healthy communities. The food we offer at our market goes straight from the farm to you, further reducing our carbon footprint!
See you Sunday, San Diego.
Shop safely. Support local.

VENDORS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
TRUE PET KITCHENS

Your furry friends deserve the very best and we are so grateful to host vendors at our market who put our pooches first!

Meet Melanie Dunwell and Kurt Dunwell of True Pet Kitchens. Melanie was determined to ensure her first dog, Sophie, a baby chihuahua, lived a long, healthy life, and knew that this meant healthy eating. When the only dog treats she could find contained glycerin, preservatives or other ingredients that she couldn’t pronounce, or were dry, brittle, crumbly, burnt and contained sharp edges, Melanie decide to make her own. True Pet Kitchen was born, a company for animal lovers by animal lovers.

Their amazing range of treats include ingredients like wild salmon, turkey breast, chicken breast, lamb leg, pork tenderloin and duck, combined with beneficial superfoods like turmeric, peanut butter, carrots, coconut oil, pumpkin, and bananas, all focusing on your dog's hips, joints, heart, vision, eyes, skin, coat, digestion, and overall health.

"I’ve always believed that how you do anything is how you do everything. Everything we do at True Pet Kitchens is built around quality, from the ingredients we use to the love that goes into everything we make. We make all of our treats by hand, in small batches, not in big factories or plants. We also make sure that all of the ingredients we use are sourced in the USA and approved by the USDA. No feed-grade ingredients, by-products, fillers or preservatives are ever used. True Pet Kitchens gives you a way to connect with your pet and create happy memories. Pets are family. We love our pets and the fact that you’re reading this shows that you do too.”

 - Melanie Dunwell, founder, True Pet Kitchens

True Pet Kitchens sets up on the turf on upper Girard each Sunday, right next to Dog Zenergy, who offers complimentary dog sitting while you shop! In addition to delicious and healthy treats, they also carry supplements, collars and leashes. Rumor has it that the dogs being tended to by our friends at Dog Zenergy get to sample Melanie’s delicious treats throughout the day! We give that 4 paws up!
