COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness

This panel discussion will explore the issue of COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness. It will raise awareness about the study and surveillance of vaccine effectiveness, and takes place during the World Health Organization’s World Immunization Week, Pan-American Health Organization’s Vaccination Week in the Americas, and Canada’s National Immunization Awareness Week. This is an opportunity to hear from leading epidemiologists, physicians, and public health researchers and researchers, and to contribute to dialogue on this important area.

Ensuring Global Access to COVID-​19 Vaccines

This panel discussion will explore the issue of ensuring global access to COVID-19 vaccines. It will raise awareness about the importance of vaccines to protect people of all ages and will span from global challenges and solutions to local recommendations in its discussion of the issues. The event is an opportunity to hear from leading human rights advocates, public health professionals and researchers, and to contribute to dialogue on this important area.

ON NEIHR & IMN: Day 1-​ Navigating this Time Holistic Wellness for Indigenous Scholars, Part One

This Indigenous Knowledges Virtual Exchange will bring together members of the Ontario NEIHR and IMN and sister networks from across Canada to provide opportunities for peer mentoring, support, and belonging. In a panel format, presenters from the IMN will share their stories regarding maintaining wellness while pursuing scholarly activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will consist of three presenters, followed by small group discussions in breakout rooms, each led and moderated by an Elder to allow for further in-depth conversations with peers.

Watch the April 21st webinar hosted by the Centre for Global Health at DLSPH. In this webinar, Dr. Rene Loewenson delivered a talk on "Fundamental choices for the future of public health - what is COVID-19 exposing?" Dr. Loewenson explored contrasting histories, trajectories and drivers of different approaches to public health that suggest that rather than a singular notion, a ‘battle for ideas’ has infused public health policy and practice within regions and globally, with different approaches dominating at particular times.
