May Virtual Event - May 20, 7 PM.
“Public Education in NC: Legislative Update & the Leandro Case”

AAUW of North Carolina invites you to attend the virtual speaker Lynn Edmondsevent, “Public Education in NC: Legislative Update & the Leandro Case”.   This is the eighth program of our virtual series, You Have the Power.

North Carolina’s general assembly has been busy this session, filing bills that have great impact on public education. Join us for a legislative update and discussion about public school funding. Our conversation will include updates on the Leandro court case and what North Carolinians must do to ensure all children receive a sound, basic education as promised in our state constitution.

The presenter is Lynn Edmonds of the Wake County League of Women Voters.  Lynn is Outreach Director for Public Schools First NC and Great Schools In Wake.  She has worked in public education advocacy for 11 years, first as a volunteer and then with Public Schools First NC beginning in 2013.

Lynn graduated with an Associate’s degree from Peace College, now William Peace University in Raleigh. She has served on multiple PTA and civic boards, including her current at-large position on the Wake County Board of Library Commissioners, and an Advisory Committee member for Livable Raleigh.

A native North Carolinian, Lynn and her husband attended and graduated from Durham Public Schools. They have two children who both graduated from Wake County public schools.  For fun, Lynn enjoys frequent trips to Ocean Isle Beach and knitting.

To submit questions that can be answered by the speaker during the Q&A period of the program, contact Pat Ashe at program@aauwnc.org.
