ISSUE 2021:01 -  APRIL 2021

Welcome to a new format for the Buzz.

It's a new year and we thought we'd start with a new format for our irregular little newsletter from the Stockholm Cricket Club.   Although we have changed the look and feel the goal is still the same to keep you all updated with what is happening in and around the club.

AGM 2021

A Digital AGM

The Stockholm Cricket Club is the people that make up the club.  And the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the highest decision making forum in the club, being the place where members get to set the agenda for the club for the upcoming year.

In February we held our AGM digitally,  and while there were some small problems and things took longer than when we meet face to face, the AGM was successfully held.

Elections and decisions made

The results of elections for committee members were:

  • Karl Langston was re-elected as Chairman for a period of 2 years
  • Sampat Manju was re-elected to the board for period of 2 years
  • Niranjan Komalla was elected to the board for period of 2 years
  • Manu Lund and Vijay Singh were both elected as suppleanter for a one year period
  • Richard Murray and Rama were re-elected as auditors for a one year period
  • Hitesh Gatty and Ali Alibhai were re-elected as members of the Disciplinary Committee*
  • Basant Sharma, Vignesh Mohan, Harshavardhana Singaraju, Santhosh Yadlapalli were elected to the Technical Committee for a one year period
  • Rakesh Tripathi, Santhosh Yadlapalli, and Richard Murray were elected to the Valberedning for a one year period
A motion to create a membership category for “Honorary Members” in order to recognise the long service to the club of many members was discussed. The members decided that the Board will present the required change to clubs constitution to implement this in an extra AGM within the next 6 months.

Board Members

The board have divided up the main areas of responsibilities as follows:
  • Karl  - Player Welfare, Paracricket, Veterans
  • Suman -  Secretary, Junior Team, Equipment (Jr)
  • Sampat - Treasurer, Equipment (Sr)
  • Niranjan - Senior Teams
  • Jytoi - Data Officer, Equipment (Sr)

Covid

The ongoing pandemic is the bane of the club and society at the moment.  And our priority is firstly that all our members, their family and friends are safe.

As of Thursday 22-April the following rules apply for cricket until at least 17-May:
  • No matches or tournaments are allowed (children, youth, adults)
  • Avoid having contact with new people
  • Arrange for training outdoor in smaller groups (8 persons).
  • Keep distance, have your own equipment, wash your hands, avoid the dressing room

The Swedish Cricket Federation (SCF) have cancelled all Senior matches until mid-June, and Junior matches until at least 17-May.

As a club, as we are allowed to train, we will be looking to hold training matches in a manner that is safe and complies with the rules. More information will be shared as and when we have ground bookings.

Team uniforms from Bhajji Sports

During the winter the club agreed to change uniform provider to Bhajji Sports for the next 3 years. In the agreement each member can order a personalised shirt with their unique number in the club. And we will submit orders to the Bhajji Sports several times per season.

The delivery of the first batch of shirts from Bhajji Sports has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.  We now expect them to be delivered before the end of April.  Information will be shared with each team on how and when distribution of shirts will occur.

For those that have not ordered a playing uniform we will be submitting a new order shortly. To order shirts  you fill out a form on our website.
