1. News

A new cultural safety initiative, “The New Respect Indigenous Cultural Safety Online”, at the University of Toronto’s Waakebiness-Bryce Institute for Indigenous Health aims to ensure the next generation of health professionals is better equipped to provide care to Indigenous Peoples. The project aims to provide widespread online cultural safety training. Read the full article here.

2. IMS Scientific Day - Call for Poster Judges

The IMS is in need of faculty to serve as poster judges for the Alan Wu Poster Competition on Wednesday, May 26. Postdocs are welcome to serve as judges, so please share with your networks. 
 
This is a 1.5 hour commitment during one (or more) of the below time slots:
  • 9:00 am – 10:30 am
  • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
The competition will take place on Gather.town. Instructions and training/tutorials will be provided to ensure all judges are comfortable with the virtual platform. If you are interested in serving as a judge, please email ims.scientificday@utoronto.ca

A Postdoctoral Researcher position in translational neuroscience funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research is available in the laboratory of Dr. Beverley Orser (www.orserlab.com). IMS Temerty Medicine Connect Coordinator – Job ID 177998
In this role you will assist with the coordination and development of IMS' activities on the Temerty Faculty of Medicine's new networking platform Temerty Medicine Connect (TMC). Key responsibilities include developing the program and training materials for ambassadors as part of the IMS' new TMC Ambassador Program and helping develop a virtual mentorship program through the platform.

In this role you will assist with tasks that support new international initiatives, particularly related to program and database development. The International Development Assistant provides administrative and project management support to the International Development team. Multilingual speakers preferred.

Congratulations to Dr. Danielle Bentley on receiving an Early Career Teaching Award

“I have the privilege of teaching one of the most inherently relevant subjects within the general sciences: human anatomy,” says Dr. Bentley.
Congratulations to Dr. Shaf Keshavjee who has received the prestigious Flance-Karl Award at the American Surgical Association Annual Meeting. This award is presented to a surgeon who has made a seminal contribution in basic laboratory research which has application to clinical surgery.
