Visualizing our Vision: Finding a Neighborhood

via Zoom 10 AM - 11:30 AM

Join us to visualize the possibilities for Cedar Cohousing and get ready to take the next steps in our development!

Cedar Cohousing members and explorers want to live in an urban, walkable, and mixed-use neighborhood close to rapid transit and public green space. Now that we have chosen architects (see below), the next step is to focus our “site search” around specific neighborhoods so we can provide that information to a land broker and/or developer.

In this session we will define and illustrate our criteria, review maps of targeted areas with nearby amenities, showcase some prospective neighborhoods, and show images of recent urban multi-family buildings and streetscapes. Attendees will provide input and help build consensus through online polls and break-out discussion groups.

You will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link after registering.

CIRCLE UPDATES
Circles are the member and explorer working groups that make our project happen!
Site Search - Our mandate is to find sites suitable for our project in the St Paul or Minneapolis urban core. We've been engaging with planning departments to identify areas with suitable zoning and proximity to transit, and engaging professionals (e.g., architects, brokers) essential to move our project forward. Progress is being made on all fronts.
  • We have selected Todd Rhoades and Michelle Pribyl of LHB Architects to help evaluate sites, design our building and work with city planning officials.
  • We've identified numerous possible sites based on leads from brokers and city planning officials and internet searches.
Outreach - Our mandate is to provide opportunities to learn about our cohousing community, maintain contact with prospective members and followers, recruit people to join our cohousing project, and nurture connections among CCLLC members and explorers.

If you are considering making cohousing your future home, review the steps to membership on our website and feel free to contact Becca Brackett (612-588-9532) if you are interested in becoming an explorer or member.
Governance/Legal/Finance - Our mandate is to ensure that we operate consistent with laws and regulations, all voices in our community are heard and respected, and that participant financial contributions are managed prudently.
