Good Morning,

As we are now one week into the final quarter of the year, there are many important events, assessments and dates for you to be aware of.  I will outline many of them in this morning’s email and I will also share others as we move closer to the end of the year.  Please see below for what is ahead.

DTLA Return to In-Person Learning on April 26th
All requests from DTLA families that wish to have their child return have been received and processed.  All students that have requested to return are to start this Monday, April 26th.  Most students will keep their same schedule they have had with only a small number of students needing to have minor changes made.  If your child’s schedule needed a change, you should have been contacted by their school counselor with that information.  For students returning in 6th grade, we have planned some orientation activities that include a tour of the building as this is the first time that many of our 6th grade DTLA students will be in school.  I will send a brief email tomorrow morning to the families that will be returning.

Upcoming Assessment Information
Students in all grades will be engaged in a variety of assessments in the coming weeks.  The assessments are a combination of state mandated tests as well as assessments that we use in-house to show student growth, assist in course placement and inform needed support.  See below for our assessment calendar.

Assessment Date(s) Notes
NGSS April 29th For 8th grade only and will be administered in Science classes. DTLA students will come into school during their scheduled Science class for this test.
Orleans Hanna (for in-school students) April 29th For all 6th and 7th graders and will be administered in Math classes. The Orleans Hanna is a key metric in determining Algebra readiness and informs placement for next year.
Orleans Hanna (for DTLA students) May 4th For all 6th and 7th graders in DTLA. This test will be administered at 3:00 pm in our gymnasium. The Orleans Hanna is a key metric in determining Algebra readiness and informs placement for next year.
SBAC May 5th - May 14th For all students and will be administered in assigned testing rooms. On SBAC testing day, we will follow our SBAC Testing Schedule. DTLA students will come into school for this test during the testing time.
MI/RI May 17th - May 28th MI (Math Inventory) and RI (Reading Inventory) are screening assessments administered to all students in ELA and Math classes during the Fall, Winter and Spring to show growth and inform support. DTLA students can take this from home.

*Additional information will be sent to DTLA families the day before the NGSS and SBAC test dates with information about bringing your child to school including drop off/pickup times and locations.

COVID Cases for the Week of April 19th - April 23rd

New Positive Cases Number of Rippowam Community Members Quarantined
5 91

The number of people that needed to be quarantined this week was our highest total thus far as you can see, however, I did want to note that the number is still within the expected range per positive case.  We have seen a slight uptick in cases since Spring Break (5, 3 and 5) and our average number of quarantines is still under 20 students per case, which is a good thing.  My hope is that we will see the number of cases settle back down as we move further away from Spring Break.

Best regards,

Matthew Laskowski
Principal
