Principal's Message

Good Morning McGaugh Families,

Thank you for joining us last Tuesday night for a parent education event titled, THE WIRED CHILD. The number of families that joined the conversation signaled our community's need to participate in this discussion, and Dr. Weichman did not disappoint. Dr. Weichman discussed many of the concerns we, as parents, share.  He outlined practical approaches to address issues that best support our children's mental health and wellness. On May 4, 2021, we will hold the second of this two-part series. Dr. Weichman will share more tools and advice for parents raising resilient children in a pandemic and a post-pandemic era. Tuesday, May 4, 2021, @ 7:00 PM, is not an evening you want to miss.

Additionally, you do not want to miss Tuesday Night's School Board Meeting. I have the honor of presenting McGaugh Elementary's School Board report, a presentation that highlights McGaugh's successful school year in snapshots. I'll also present Mrs. Farnaz Pardasani as McGuagh's Hero of the Heart. As you know, Farnaz has an unyielding commitment to excellence.  She has gone above and beyond to support our school community during what many will recall as, the most challenging school year ever. Farnaz, being named McGaugh's Hero of the Heart, is a very well-deserved honor. Again, this is not an evening that you want to miss.

Here are a few things to keep in mind this week:

On the Horizon

  • Tuesday, 5/4: Parent Education Night - Part 2
  • Monday - Friday, 5/17 - 5/21: OSS Alternative Activities

That's all for now.

Buy locally, Support Reading, and Give Back to McGaugh PTA

This year, due to the pandemic, McGaugh PTA is not able to put on our usual extraordinary Book Fair in partnership with Scholastic.  However, we CAN still encourage our children to read while supporting a local business. In that spirit, we have partnered with Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Marina Pacifica Long Beach who has generously pledged to give back a portion of the sales to McGaugh PTA.

So be sure to come out to Barnes & Noble Marina Pacifica on May 1st & May 2nd and pick out a book for you, your child, or anyone in your family.  Books truly make the best gifts! A flyer with more details will go home this week.  Reach out to Jessica Kouzoukas at JessicaK@tinroofbistro.com with any questions.  Happy shopping and Happy Reading!
