It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of the 2021 Margaret Bingham Stillwell Book Collecting Prize for Undergraduates. We had an excellent turnout at the event, including some new faces. I'm also happy to say that each one of our five finalists will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cellar Stories, and a $10 Starbucks gift card. All of the collectors were superb, and it was a very difficult year to be a judge. Nevertheless, here are the winners:

1st Place ($500)
Jeff Katz (Brown/RISD Class of 2021)
Visual Storytelling, Contemporary Comics and Zines

2nd Place ($250)
Nico Vella Page (Brown University, Class of 2021)
Documentary Poetry and Poetics of Resistance

3rd Place ($100)
Leandra Shields (Rhode Island College, Class of 2021)
Exhibition Catalogues

Many of us were equally enchanted by Elizabeth Long's pop-up books (especially the one she made herself), and Luna Gomberg's illustrated books in Russian. All of the students are herewith commended on their passionate devotion to their collections. In addition to the above prizes, Spencer Stuart, the Collections Adviser who spoke to us in January, is donating a complimentary hour of advisory consultation on collecting strategies to Jeff Katz.
This was the last event of our 37th season, and I thank you all for your support.

Speaking of which, our Treasurer will bless you if you are able to send us your dues for the 2021-22 season as soon as is convenient. As I have mentioned before, these payments are not due until June 1, which is when our year begins, but administrative costs continue (website, bank costs, nonprofit filings, etc.).

Aside from dues, of course, there are the growing number of books for sale at Cellar Stories (and thanks to Dragonfly Bindery for their recent donation of two boxes of books to this stock), and a new "donate" button on the website for general donations.

Above all, we look forward to seeing each other in person next year, and to putting the restrictions and worries of this past year well behind us.
