Hey friends,

I'm thrilled to announce something I've been working on for a while.

I'm building an online course that shares everything I know about the art of storytelling. It’s called Thinking In Stories, and the goal of the course is simple: I will walk you through the process of converting your best ideas into brilliant stories.

I’ve created a landing page that details everything you need to know. Head on over to check it out, and to sign up for the upcoming beta:

I’ve learned a lot about storytelling over the years, and my aim with this course is to demystify it all. Every step of the process will be practical, actionable, and interactive.

To kick things off, I will start with a small beta cohort of students. If you’re interested in joining the beta, please sign up for the waitlist on the landing page. I want to keep this first group small, so the earlier you sign up, the better.

As you can tell, I’m super excited about this project, and can’t wait to share the result with you. In the meantime, if you have any questions, just hit reply and ask away - I will respond =).
A Post from the Archives

The Quest to the Unlived Life — I'm sharing this post here today because it embodies many of the principles I touch upon in Thinking In Stories. In fact, it takes something from every module and puts it into practice. What started as an outline of loose ideas turned into a story about beating three bosses in the video game of life. It's a reader favorite, and will give you a good idea of my flavor of storytelling.
Another Thing to Share

The landing page has all the details you need to know about the course, but I wanted to take a moment to talk about it as well. So that's why I recorded a video where my face is quite big.

It's a brief overview of why I'm building this thing, and the main problem it's looking to solve. Here's the video, in all its hi-def glory:

A Thought I've Been Pondering

Announcing a new project like this is exciting, but also nerve-wracking. In fact, excitement and nervousness have similar physiological qualities, but what differentiates the two is how you internalize the emotions.

Life is almost always a framing problem. How you choose to frame a situation dictates the lessons you take away from it. So when I feel nervous, instead of being overwhelmed by it, I remind myself that I'm just excited because I care so much about what I'm working on.

When I view it this way, I can't help but to be grateful that I have something to be so nervous about.
A Brief Parting Question

Is there a story you've created that you're particularly proud of? It could be written, illustrated, recorded, cooked, sung, anything. I'd love to hear from all you storytellers out there, so please send your creation over for me to enjoy!
As always, hit reply to share any thoughts, to respond to the parting question, or to simply say hello. And if you have any questions whatsoever about the course, send them over my way. I love hearing from you.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the rest of your week!

-Lawrence
