Welcome back to the Richmond Parks & Recreation weekly activities newsletter!
We have curated a list of fun activities for individuals and the whole family that we plan to share with you for the rest of 2021! This week's activities include the the Spring Plant Sale, DNR Free Fishing Day, Gentle Yoga, and the first Summer Farmers Market of the season! The Parks and Recreation Department is hiring a variety of positions for summer seasonal help including JUKO counselors, lifeguards, and grounds maintenance workers.

Romeo & Juliet, May 13, Jack Elstro Plaza
Richmond Shakespeare Festival presents the Kentucky Shakespeare touring production of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
Play starts at 6:30 and is performed without intermission for about 90 minutes. Food trucks start at 5:30. Audience members are required wear face masks when not eating or drinking, and are invited to bring their own chairs and blankets for this socially-distanced, family-friendly community event.
Free admission; reservation required.

23rd Annual Girls Inc. 5k, May 15, Middlefork Reservoir!
Runners, tie your laces! After a year of virtual races, we're ready to kick off the Wayne County Challenge in person with the 23rd Annual Girls Inc. 5k!
No steep hills, just a gradual climb to the halfway point, then a fast downhill second half all the way to the finish. Long flat straightaways at the start and at the finish bracket this run through the Oak Park neighborhood.

Gentle Yoga
Join the Richmond Senior Community Center every Friday at 9am for Gentle Yoga led by Shari Veach. There is plenty of room for social distancing as the class is held in the gymnasium.
Gentle Yoga is free to members and $5 to the public 18 and up.

The Summer Farmers Market Returns May 1st!!
Come out to the Richmond Farmers Market at Jack Elstro Plaza and support your local farmers and creators! Our vendors sell local produce, meat, eggs, honey, baked goods, handcrafted artisan goods, and much more!

Join the Floral & Beautification Division on Saturday, May 1 at 9AM-3PM for our annual plant sale!
This fundraiser is at the Parks and Recreation Greenhouse on 28 Waterfall Rd, Richmond, IN and will help fund needed repairs and improvements to our facility as well as help us reduce excess inventory. We will have perennials, native plants, house plants, and shrubs available for purchase. We may also have some annuals as well.
