RAM MSA, COUNCIL MASTER OF ISH-SODI, AND COMMANDERY MSM
I know we re all tired and ready to get back together in person and that may soon be reality.
Grand Master Arthur Weiss has issued a directive to allow meetings in person with restrictions. The restrictions will seem severe to most of us. With the passage of time, those restrictions will most likely subside.
Masonic Homes of California is a regulated Senior Community, and as such, is regulated by several local, county, and state bodies.
The Siminoff Center and the fraternal bodies which meet here. Will not re-open on the same schedule as Grand Lodge. The opening will be directed by California Health Department edict.
As I get additional information, I will share with you.
Now is the time for all officers to renew their proficiency in our ritual work and be prepared to reopen and begin performing the degrees and orders of the York Rite.
Bobby J. Mc Cain KYCH Secretary/Recorder

Illustrious Master
Michael Ramos
Companions and Friends,
I write this on Good Friday, wishing all who celebrate a most peaceful and blest forthcoming Easter.
Faith, hope, and charity (or love) are three virtues stressed and expressed, in one shape or another, within every masonic degree or order imaginable. To focus primarily on the idea of charity or love, we acknowledge as masons that moment when we were found destitute during our initiation and then subsequently charged by the Master, from that point forward, to ever be ready to relieve those in need, to the best of our ability.
In addition to this and the other mentions of charity within our Entered Apprentice lecture, we certainly are called upon to love one another. As we are informed, Masonry draws together men of every country, sect, and opinion, and truly represents an indissoluble chain of sincere affection. During this point in the year, may we remember it is incumbent upon us as Masons – from our very admission into the fraternity – to act charitably and loving towards one another and the world as a whole. All of us, whether we recount it or not, this past year (especially) have relied on the kindness of others, and may we remember to pay it forward.
May we who are blessed always remember those in need.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Mike Ramos
Illustrious Master

The Jewel of the Illustrious Master
The Trowel is a symbol to teach that proper cement is required in order to unite the building blocks of a temple, and the perfection of the construction depends upon the correct placement of the cement.
In construction, concrete is the final product made from rough material and cement. Cement is the binding agent.
The Freemason, having examined the building blocks and found them to be of good work, secures them permanently in place by spreading, with the Trowel, the cement that forever binds them together.
The noble and glorious purpose of spreading the cement of brotherly love and affection, that cement which unites the members of the fraternity into one sacred band or society of Brothers among whom no contention should ever exist.

Sir Knights:
The theme for this month’s newsletter is philanthropy.
Philanthropy, relief, charity – they are all duty that we have been taught as Templars, as Masons, as Christians, and just as good citizens and caring human beings. We are our brother’s keepers. It is our duty to help those in need as much as we can. We cannot possibly fulfill every supplication that fills our mailboxes and our email boxes, but we should do what we can, as Paul taught the Corinthians.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2nd Corinthians 9:7 NIV
How do we choose which charities to support? That is an individual choice, but as Knights Templar we strongly believe that the Knights Templar Eye Foundation should be one of the first choices. Which of our senses is more precious than sight? Vision is arguably the most important of all our ways of perceiving the world around us. For this reason, maintaining vision was chosen as the primary philanthropy of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar.
In 1956 the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc. was formed for the preservation of vision and the elimination of blindness. Since that time it has benefited many thousands of recipients. Last year alone the Foundation spent $156 million on research, patient care and education.
All Commandries should take pride in one hundred per cent participation in this important endeavor.
IN HOC SIGNO VINCES

Knights Templar - Remember Your Scabbard
Sir Knights,
Your scabbard is on display when you are in uniform.
This scabbard has an image of a downed Sir Knight - resting or at peace. The Cross and Crown has the inscription "BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH & I WILL GIVE THEE A CROWN OF LIFE".
The Crown and the Cross is a familiar symbol in Christianity and is the logo of the Knights Templar in York Rite Freemasonry.
As the Knights Templar is found upon Christian principles so to are the symbols.
Together the Cross and Crown represent the reward waiting in Heaven that the Faithful will receive after the suffering and trials of this life on Earth.
IN HOC SIGNO VINCES
Sir Knight Bruce A. Rick, PC

Mother's Day!
May 9
Did you know...
Mother's Day was established to honor and recognize the sacrifices and accomplishments of mothers.
The precedent for the United States Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”
Once a major tradition in Europe, the celebration fell on the fourth Sunday in Lent and was seen as a time when the faithful would return to their “mother church”— the main church in the vicinity of their home — for a special service.
Over time the Mothering Sunday tradition shifted into the more secular holiday.

Armed Forces Day!
May 15th
Did you know...
Armed Forces Day is a day to recognize members of the Armed Forces that are currently serving.
The Armed Forces of the United States were united under one department which was renamed the Department of Defense in 1949.
All branches of the military are honored on this single day.

Memorial Day!
May 31st
Did you know...
Originally known as Decoration Day, because it was originally celebrated by decorating the graves of soldiers who lost their lives, with such items as flowers and flags.
It originated in the years following the Civil War and honors the men and women who died while serving in the United States military.
Why May? It is thought that the May would be a time when flowers would be blooming all around America, so blooms would be available for decorating soldiers’ graves,
Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
