Club Website

Our new Club Website has been launched!
Many thanks to Club Member and Player, Mark Howarth for the time he has put in to make our new website one of the best around.
The website is still being expanded but includes news on all of the senior teams, club membership forms, payment for membership, games fees, training subs for juniors, links to the Club kit shop at Customkit, as well as some great video footage of the Club. Mark will be updating the website regularly, if you would like to see any features included them please email howzat@egertoncc.co.uk and we will pass those comments on.

Please visit

www.egertoncc.co.uk

and take a look around.

Club Memberships

Club Memberships are now due.

This is vital revenue for the Club, more so than ever with other streams having been unavailable over the past year.

Reminder notices will be sent out shortly, but please remember that the Club is run by volunteers, who are busy with their own lives, and shouldn't need to chase people for renewals!

Junior Training

Your child’s safety at their cricket sessions is our absolute priority, and Egerton Cricket Club will be adhering to the Government and ECB COVID-19 guidelines current to the current calendar day

At last, we are able to open up the grounds to welcome new and existing junior players to join in some fun and meet up with their friends at the Club.
Friday nights have traditionally been a place for everyone to start the weekend with organised training for 9s-13s, as well as The amazing All-Stars and Dynamos for the younger ones.
With the added bonus of the bar being open, you can be assured of a great welcome for everyone. Socially distanced, of course!
If you would like more details about our Junior Training program, then please email: juniors@egertoncc.co.uk

Or for All-Stars and Dynomos please contact our coordinator, Mike Hall on

Weather

Unfortunately, it has been known to rain occasionally on training nights and match days.
Coaches, managers and umpires will always try to make sure training and matches go ahead, but it has to be safe to do so. If an event has to be called off, notifications will be made on squad WhatsApp groups, as well as social media channels.
Please keep an eye out closer to start times.
Please also remember, that once restrictions are lifted, on training nights even in poor weather, the bar in the Clubhouse will be open, so don't cancel your plans completely, a warm welcome is waiting for you!

Cricket Career: Started at Astley Bridge CC at the age of 9. Captained all junior age groups in a successful junior era at the club. Left at the age of 19 and signed as Pro at Blackrod CC. After 3 years at Blackrod he returned to Astley Bridge for 2 more seasons before moving to Egerton for the 2009 season.
Egerton CC reached the Lancashire KO final that season but lost to Bootle at St Anne’s. Since then he has been fortunate enough to be part of some successful Egerton CC teams.
We won the Hamer Cup in 2012 at Kearsley. The BCL in our final season in 2015, the inaugural GMCL Premier Division in 2016 and the Derek Kay Trophy 1st XI trophy in 2017.

Will also had the pleasure of lifting the last 3 trophies as captain. Securing the BCL Championship at Little Lever remains his proudest moment as a cricketer, not just for the team but for how much it meant to club stalwarts, the likes of Brian Fairclough and Mike Hall and many more who have been involved with the club for so long and had never seen Egerton win a league title. Needless to say, the celebrations went on and on that night..!

Job: Director at Customkit

Other interesting facts: Type 1 Diabetic, diagnosed at the age of 15.

Junior Cricket

Junior Cricket begins

We wish all of our Junior Teams every success for this season, it has been wonderful to see how many of you regularly turn up for training or just turn up for a net, out of hours.
Egerton Cricket Club is a fully inclusive cricket club, and we welcome children and young people of all backgrounds to the Club.
Don't forget to tell your friends and bring them down to the Club to join in on training nights!

Many thanks to our friends at Eagley CC who came to Blackburn Road for a friendly on Thursday 22nd April.
It was a clear but chilly evening, and the light went very quickly towards the end of the game, but as ever, the match was played in good spirit, giving the players valuable pre-season experience.
Eagley came away with the win, but everyone walked away with smiles on their faces and cold hands! Looking forward to the return match in September.

Pre Season Friendly called off

Egerton CC in the snow

Alas, our planned 1st XI friendly against Church & Oswaldtwistle CC on 11th April had to be called off due to unseasonal conditions on the morning of the game!
As you can see, it really wasn't cricket weather...

HRH Prince Philip

All members of the Club were proud to show our respects to HRH Prince Philip.

Following the death of HRH Prince Philip on the 9th April, The Club fell silent at 3pm on Saturday 17th April to show our respects to this cricket-loving Royal.
Seen here are ECC 2nd XI alongside Milnrow 2nd XI, GMCL and Club officials, where three minutes of silence and refection took place around the wicket.
We pass our thoughts and condolences onto Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at this time of loss and sorrow for her and her family.

Club Community Events

Egerton Cricket Club prides itself as being at the ‘heart of the community’, and the Clubhouse hosts many regular events and meetings unrelated to cricket. Here are just a few of the different groups meeting at the Club.

  • Strikerz FC HQ
  • Over 60’s Club
  • Pink Ladies Rounders team
  • Children’s music group
  • Parent & Toddlers

If you would like to find out more about the Club to see if it would be suitable for your group, then please get in touch at howzat@egertoncc.co.uk

Get Involved

So much goes on in the background to make Egerton Cricket Club run as smoothly as it does.
When you turn up at the Club to watch a match, the wicket has been prepared, the outfield has had a final cut, the bar is open, the Clubhouse is clean and well presented, the ouside areas have had the bins emptied and a freshcoat of paint has been applied to those areas that need it. There are a core of dedicated people working to keep our Club facilities in great condition, but they can’t do it all on their own!

You don’t need a skill or a talent to help out, just a few hours a week, or even from time to time would make a massive difference to those volunteers already giving up a bit of their time; if you think you would like to get involved, please let us know by sending an email howzat@ergertoncc.co.uk and we will forward on your details to the Grounds Team. Or just turn up on the off chance someone is on the Ground and go and introduce yourself - you will be made more than welcome, and you will be put to good use!
