We're excited to invite the public to the Art Museum for our annual Summer Solstice event. Due to University of Wyoming protocols and social distance guidelines there will be limited space in our Rotunda to view the solar tube/silver dollar event. Look for more info soon regarding this change on our events webpage and social media channels.

An after-hours special evening event on the Art Museum's Terrace with a cash bar (wine & cocktails), hors d'oeuvres, and live music. We're offering this opportunity to celebrate summer at an in-person gathering, and to view our Summer exhibitions in this Member's premier access event. Summer Art Camp
Summer Art Camp I, Ages 6-10, July 12-16, 2021, 1:00-4:45 p.m. daily
$75/student (10% off for current Family Members, applied at payment)
Summer Art Camp II, Ages 11-15, July 19-23, 2021, 1:00-4:45 p.m. daily
$75/student (10% off for current Family Members, applied at payment)
Summer Art Camp is offered for two age groups. Our plan is to host these camps in-person, either inside or outside, or a combination of the two (weather depending). We will be updating our plan as more information regarding UW policies on covid-19 are announced.
July 12-16: Students will explore the Reframing Identity for inspiration and exploring how artists from around the world use art processes to understand concepts of identity and belonging. Students will use different kinds of materials and discover ways to make art in the studio, including painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
July 19-23: Students will explore Something's Off: Paintings by Harold Garde and Ron Kroutel and explore how artists are inspired by place and perspective to create drawings and paintings. Students will explore various methods of drawing and painting both inside and outside of the museum.

Virtual Family Saturday Workshop

Zoom Event, Free, Registration Required
The Art Museum will be offering a Virtual Family Saturday Workshop in May via a synchronous Zoom session. This month we will be exploring the 46th Annual Juried UW Student Exhibition. Get inspired by artworks created by students from across the University of Wyoming. There’s something for everyone in this month’s buffet of art making opportunities. Mystery bags of materials based on 4 different pieces of artwork will prompt our inquiry, exploration, and creation.
This event is free, but families will be asked to RSVP to ensure that we have enough art kits prepared in time for pick up. It is first come, first serve, and will be limited to 30 families.

The University of Wyoming Art Museum is hosting a free gallery walkthrough featuring student award winners from the 46th Annual Juried UW Student Exhibition, Thursday, May 6, from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

The gallery walk-through is an opportunity to hear students discuss their artistic motivations such as what drives the content of their work and why specific artistic media were chosen, and to answer visitors’ questions. This opportunity helps students develop as professional artists and bolster public speaking skills.

TOAST (Teen Open Art Studio Time)
Friday, May 21
1:30 - 5:00 p.m.
"File Folder" near the LaBonte Skate Park
Come make art with us! Calling all Teens ages 13-18, to join us on Friday, May 21 for a collaborative paint party at the “File Folder,” a public art piece near the LaBonte Skate Park.
This event is free and participants can drop-in anytime between 1:30 - 5 p.m. Be prepared to get messy! Painting supplies will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for teens to get acquainted with our T.O.A.S.T. Program that will be returning to in-person sessions starting in August 2021, the beginning of the ACSD academic year. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to meet and greet their middle & high school art teachers.
