Tournament Season is Upon Us

It’s pickleball tournament season. Are you ready to play?

If you’re looking to compete in the 2021 USA Pickleball National Championships in November, there a few regional tournaments that will help you qualify. All gold medalists at a USA Pickleball Regional Tournament held between July 15, 2020 and July 15, 2021 will be eligible for pre-registration. You can find out more here.

Dave and Lori below win Gold at Mid-South Regionals

Congratulations to our friends David and Lori Belew, Kim Knotts, Patty Rothweiler, and Dan Hill for earning gold medals at the Mid-South Regional Championships held in McKinney, TX in April. They have all qualified to compete at the USA Pickleball National Championships this fall.

PICKLEMANIA MMXXI

If you’ve never competed in a tournament before and are looking to get your feet wet, check out Picklemania MMXXI. It is a benefit tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Andover on May 15 at Terradyne Country Club.

Other fun tournaments that are happening this month include:

  • May 1 - Pickleball Tournament at Chicken N Pickle benefiting Team More Cowbell Rodell’s LLS Man of the Year campaign

  • May 1 - Winfield Pickleball Tournament (Winfield Recreation Commission)

  • May 2 - Spread Hope ICT Pickleball Tournament at Chicken N Pickle

  • May 6-8 - Sandbox Mother’s Day Heartland Pickleball Tournament (Kansas City)

  • May 8 - Kaycee Mac Pickleball Tournament at Chicken N Pickle

  • May 15 - Cystic Fibrosis benefit tournament at Nahola Fitness

  • May 15 - Senior Pickleball Tourney (Haysville Activity Center)

  • May 15-16 - Table Rock Lake Open

  • May 27-30 - Middle States Regional Championships

Six New Outdoor Pickleball Courts Unveiled at Riverside Tennis Center

In case you missed it, six new outdoor pickleball courts were unveiled at the Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center this past weekend. The ribbon cutting coincided with the annual MCB Tournament which included both tennis and pickleball tournaments this year.

For those looking to break in the new pickleball courts, here are the outdoor court rental rates at Riverside:

  • Monday - Friday (Open - 5:00p): $4/hr

  • ​Monday - Friday (5:00p - Close): $8/hr

  • Saturday - Sunday (All Day): $8/hr

Are you a newbie or do you know some people who you’d like to introduce to pickleball? Newbie nights are back at Chicken N Pickle. The next newbie nights are May 11, June 1, and July 6. You can sign up here.

League Update

Nahola and Chicken N Pickle leagues are open for registration. You can learn more about the Nahola pickleball leagues here and call (316) 295-2102 to reserve your spot. Sign up for Chicken N Pickle leagues here. These leagues fill up quickly so if you’re looking to play, sign up today!
