Community. Information. Impact.

Happy April! Our newsletter is short this month, but our announcements are big as the RPCV Alliance for Ukraine takes meaningful steps toward racial equity within our organization and our field. After months of focusing internally on our own practices and capacity - work that will remain ongoing - we are happy to also be turning outward and engaging with the broader Peace Corps and global development communities. RPCV-AUA comments on NPCA's Connect to the Future report

In November 2020, the NPCA published Peace Corps Connect to the Future: A Community Report on How to Reimagine, Reshape, and Retool the Peace Corps for a Changed World. The first of the report's main points states, "The Peace Corps community must be a leader in addressing systemic racism".

After closely reviewing the report, the RPCV Alliance for Ukraine wrote a letter to NPCA leaders to share additional recommendations on addressing systemic racism. NPCA President Glenn Blumhorst responded with praise for the Alliance's "exemplary work with Peace Corps Ukraine to implement reforms and improvements in the field."

It is your efforts that drive this work forward. We invite you to read our letter, and we welcome your efforts to keep the conversation going and the changes coming.

RPCV-AUA is now a member of OrgsinSolidarity

OrgsinSolidarity is a partnership of more than 300 organizations and individuals from across the peace and security, national security, and foreign policy fields. Our shared mission is to combat racism and discrimination in all of its manifestations as individuals and in our organizations and in so doing, diversify the fields of peace and security, foreign policy, and national security, making our work more inclusive and equitable. The National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), of which RPCV-AUA is an affiliate, is also a member.

Joining OrgsinSolidarity requires making 12 commitments and regularly reporting on our progress. OrgsinSolidarity member organizations also take part in monthly working groups devoted to these commitments. We are excited to be part of this endeavor!

Stay tuned for announcements about forthcoming events and projects! We have a lot of exciting things in the works that we can't wait to share with you. And don't forget to check our social media for updates!
