Good Morning Friends,
COVID Protocols and Updates
Over the last year, your leadership team has worked hard to maintain an important balance of community worship and safety needs. When in March of 2020, we shifted to solely online worship, we didn’t know how long we would be there or what would happen next. Over the summer we began to add outdoor worship, indoor worship and continually upgrade and update our online options.
We’ve shifted and changed as needs have arisen and situations changed.
One area of worship that many of us have long been missing has been congregational singing. As the available research and understanding about this virus has changed, and as our community continues to grow in vaccine access and use, we seek once more to change.
This last Sunday, the Leadership Team decided to once more encourage congregational singing, as long as we continue our other mitigation efforts, such as distance and masking.
So starting tonight and this coming Sunday, we will be reminding about masks and yet encouraging our communal singing once more. There will be tri-layer paper masks available for any who wish to sing, if you don’t have one of your own. We encourage everyone to follow the best protocols of mask wearing and if you are not feeling well or are uncomfortable with this next step, to continue to join us in worship online.
I encourage you to reach out and send a note of encouragement and thanks to our leadership team for their hard work over the last year. With each choice and change, their leadership has been focused on the work of safety, community and worship. As followers of Christ, I am grateful for their leadership and partnership in all of this.
And so let us make a joyful noise together,
Pastor Sara McManus

How to properly put on your face mask:
- Wash your hands before putting on your face mask.
- Secure the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin.
- Ensure that your mask fits securely against the sides of your face.
- Make sure you can breathe easily.
- Don’t touch the front surface of your face mask, and, if you do, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer to disinfect.
- Don’t wear a face mask under your nose, above the chin, around your neck, up on your forehead, hanging off one ear, or on your arm/elbow.

"Sing, sing a song
Make it simple
to last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
for anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song."

Music & Lyrics by Joe Raposo
as performed by the Carpenters on their album Now & Then
℗ 1973 A&M Records (admin. by UMG)
|
|
Written in 1971 for the children's television show Sesame Street as its signature song, "Sing" had already been recorded in a medley by Barbra Streisand and a Spanish language version by Trini Lopez before it was heard by Karen and Richard Carpenter in 1973. They immediately fell in love with it and felt it could be a hit. Their rendition became the group's seventh gold single.
As we return to congregational singing with the precautions of masks and distancing, it again becomes a joy for me to encourage vocal participation in worship music. During the time of Covid-19 restrictions that removed singing, it became very difficult for me to find music that didn't contain a message of singing praise unto the Lord, especially when that is the very reason we have a hymnal full of songs! I introduced many new hymns to become familiar with, as well as other songs to just hear and ponder. We are a Christian community of people that love music and singing. I welcome the sound of our voices once again united and ringing in the sanctuary.
"Sing out loud, sing out strong..."
Peace be upon you,
Janson
