Hi QCACS Family,

We are officially in our third week of being back on the QCACS campus! We are excited to be back on campus with our teachers and scholars who make QCACS come to life. The past couple of weeks have been filled with fun activities celebrating our return. We have watched our amazing scholars return to class ready to engage in learning and we're excited for what's up next! Check out below for some exciting news and a recap of what our return has looked like; as well as what's next at QCACS:

FIRST THINGS FIRST:
QCACS Board of Trustees and our entire Leadership Team is excited to finally share with our school community that the High School will officially open in September! We have secured the location and are finalizing the outfitting of the building. In June, we will have a meet and greet with the High School Principal and key staff members to review the high school curriculum and our partnership with Union County College. The high school has been a long time coming and we are so excited that it is here!

QCACS RECAP:
Week of Monday April 12th - Friday April 16th
Ice Cream Social with Danny’s Soft Serve!
For our first week back, we welcomed students back into the school for hybrid learning in style and give them a little surprise on Monday with an Ice Cream Social! The ice cream social provided by Danny’s Soft Serve was a fun way to boost scholar morale and get them excited for the week as they began their new hybrid schedules. Danny’s Soft Serve allowed students to choose their choice of flavor and topping for ice cream. Teachers and all staff were also invited to join in the excitement and indulge their sweet tooth. As we continue to dive head first back into hybrid schedules, we must remind ourselves that though circumstances are stressful, we will continue to accomplish academic goals and spread positivity throughout our community.

Week of Monday April 19th -  Friday April 23rd
Spirit Week was a success at QCACS! We encouraged all of our scholars to participate and have fun with specific themes for each day including:

  • Music Monday: dress down day entails dressing like a music star or clothing with anything musically related
  • Tasty Tuesday: We encouraged scholars and staff to wear food themed clothing. At home, we also asked scholars to give a no bake recipe called puppy chow a try.
  • Work Together Wednesday: Students and staff stayed home but that does not mean we didn't keep the spirit! Scholars and staff were encouraged to celebrate at home by helping someone around the house.
  • Terrain Thursday: Which was also Earth Day! We encouraged all to wear blue and green clothing in celebration. We also created DIY green houses.
  • Family Friday: We encouraged students to bring in a photo of their family to share a memory that they cherish.

Spirit week was a success for QCACS scholars and staff. We are all motivated to end the school 2020-2021 school year on a high note of success for our scholars.

Next Week, Monday May 3 - Friday May 7th
It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Next week is all our about our wonderful Teachers. We're showing appreciation to our teachers for all of their dedication to our scholars. Stay tuned for more details on how we will be celebrating our Teachers!

Thank you,
Mrs. Danielle West-Augustin
