The BioMolViz "Visualization Conversation" Series

Friday, April 30th on Zoom (Zoom Link)

1 PM Eastern / 12 PM Central / 11 AM Mountain / 10 AM Pacific
For all interested in molecular visualization—come observe or join the conversation. Bring a colleague!
Featured Presenters: April Visualization Conversations
Our visual system has evolved to detect tiny changes in the environment to help us survive in our role as predator and prey. Leveraging this capability, molecular morphs visualize conformational changes by showing arbitrary trajectories between known states. Karsten Theis, biochemistry professor at Westfield State University, will demonstrate what happens in your brain by showing morphs made on the fly, responding to requests by the participants. (1 PM EDT)
Developing a novel hypothesis and writing a successful research proposal is one of the hardest parts of science for students and faculty alike. Ellis Bell, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, at the University of San Diego, will lead a discussion on how the Malate Dehydrogenase CUREs Community uses a combination of literature background, bioinformatics and molecular visualization to help students develop their own hypotheses to be explored in a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE). (1:30 PM EDT)
If you would like to lead an upcoming Visualization Conversation, please email Kristen Procko at info@biomolviz.org. The format is a 5–10 minute informal presentation and ~20 minute conversation.
