Submit your best samples to have them professionally evaluated and scored! Engage in a friendly competition with your fellow producers to help raise the bar for Hawaii-grown coffee!

The Hawaii Coffee Association has again partnered with Pacific Coffee Research to administer our first remote cupping competition. PCR has developed alternative methods to engage the Hawai’i Coffee community in a remote cupping competition that employs important safety precautions, guidelines, and mandatory obligations set by SCA, CDC, and Federal and State Governments.
PCR has selected a panel of Hawai'i-based licensed Q Graders to assess roasted coffee samples using SCA protocol and methodology over three (Pre-screening, Semi-Final, and Final) rounds in their own socially-distant cupping labs. PCR will roast, encode and distribute samples to the cupping panelists. Each are required to have appropriate tools, resources, and a facilitator to set up the cupping tables and perform cupping analysis following all current SCA parameters.
The cupping panel will evaluate samples on identical timelines in individual labs. They will meet via Zoom to deliberate scores to ensure calibration using the SCA cupping methodology and scoring format. PCR will use Cropster for collating cupping scores and notes in real time, ensuring speed and accuracy in the tallying of results.
