Birthday Wish for the Food Bank
We have another great story to share about our giving community on Vashon.
This year the Vashon Food Bank was the lucky recipient of a donation from some pretty awesome island kids. The 3 kids of the Cardoza Family have been turning their birthdays into a fundraiser for a local nonprofit. Instead of asking for toys, they ask that family and friends make donations to their nonprofit of choice and this year Greer (age 9) picked the Vashon Food Bank!
Not only did these kids ask for donations in lieu of gifts, they also held a craft sale with homemade items and flowers. All of the proceeds from the sale went to the food bank as well. See below for a photo of the kids dropping off a check for $531!
