Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the library has strived to serve the community safely, following CDC, Wisconsin DHS, and County recommendations maintaining as risk-free an environment as possible. At the start, not knowing the primary vehicle for virus transmission, libraries worldwide adopted quarantine practices. A year later, we've learned much more about this bug and, a CDC study says the risk for contracting COVID-19 from touching contaminated surfaces is less than 1 in 10,000. Libraries are one of the few remaining industries using quarantines. Based on this information, the Library Board updated our reopening plan, dropping the returned and transited materials quarantine requirement. Patrons and staff are encouraged to continue using recommended hygiene practices, washing hands frequently, and using hand sanitizer after handling library materials. Patrons concerned about library materials' safety are encouraged to self-quarantine books or media checked out from the library for 24-hours.
