From the Principal

Growth and Development!

Welcome back to Term 2 PCS! It was great to have the students back with smiling faces ready for a great first week of school. Make sure you say hello to any new families you see around the school and show them what a friendly bunch our parent community is!....

School News
Primary Disco
Last Thursday the Primary had a fabulous time moving and grooving at the CAMO disco. The hall was wonderfully decorated by the SRC with twinkle lights and camouflage colours.
Students wore spectacular outfits of camouflage and enjoyed taking class and friendship photos at the photo stand.
Stage 3 students did a fantastic job at leading the Primary students in choreographed dance steps, such as the Nutbush, Chicken dance and crowd favourite the Power!
Teachers had a very hard time choosing the best dancers during the different Stage dance offs and the refreshments available were delicious to keep the energy levels up.
The music was lively and the dancing spectacular.
It was a great night enjoyed by all!

Bell Shakespeare Visit
The Bell Shakespeare Players came to PCS this week to bring the work of Shakespeare to life for our students from Year 2-10. Our Year 2-6 students were treated to 'Just Romeo and Juliet!' an adaptation that brought the bards characters to an appreciative younger audience - the applause and cheering could be heard some classrooms away! 'Such Sweet Sorrow' also adapted Romeo and Juliet for a high school audience. With just three talented actors the cast was able to bring humour and action to the story; which was thoroughly appreciated by both students and staff alike. We loved having The Players and look forward to them coming again in the future.

Illustration Workshop with Alan Robinson
This week some of our Stage 4 and Stage 5 Visual Arts students attended an illustration workshop hosted by the Parkes Shire Library as part of Youth Week. Our students were able to interact with and learn from Alan Robinson who is the author and illustrator of the popular children's series titled "Grandpa's Farm." Our students learnt about how to approach illustration for picture books, as well as the importance of expression to bring your characters to life. Students were able to apply these skills by completing some of their own character drawings.
ANZAC Day Assembly
Last Friday our school remembered ANZAC DAY with a formal assembly. Thank you to all who participated and all who assisted in putting it together.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
High School Disco
Our first SRC event of term 2 was a great Disco, themed safari camouflage. Many students blended in with their army fatigue pants, jackets or shirts. A few students thought out of the box and came up with interest creations. Thank you to all the students that helped set up the hall for the disco and all that stayed behind to help clean up. It’s amazing to be working with an incredible group of teachers and students that all pitch-in and make events safe and enjoyable to run. A special thanks to the year 7 Technology class and Miss Barrass for cooking yummy pinwheels and quiches.
