Forward Forward
Hello youcubians,

I hope you are doing well as we enter the final stretch of this very unusual school year.  This Saturday, April 24th, I am doing something I do not usually do – a presentation designed for students, in which I will share important mindset messages and engage students in some maths activities. It is part of the
CreatorSpace Future Creators' Summit.  The event, which is free, is hosted by WhiteHat, a major edtech company in India, and it is their first virtual “mega event.” The session has a space theme, and I will be featured alongside a NASA scientist and an executive from code.org, as shown in this video

I thought some of you may want your students to tune in, to experience maths in an open, creative and space-ey way, with me! The tasks I will choose are suitable for all ages of learners, from kindergarten up to adults.  It is very early for those of us on the West Coast, (7am for my presentation), but a more reasonable time for east-coasters and our youcubians in many other countries. The session is also being recorded, if you would like to show any or all of it to your students in classes later.

We also wanted to let you know that we have scheduled a new, 3-day workshop for this summer that will focus on teaching the high school course that we are currently developing, Explorations in Data Science: Youcubed Adaptable Curriculum.  The workshop will take place virtually July 14-16 and registration is available now!  If you plan to use our new curriculum in the fall, we highly recommend this professional development, which will be tailored specifically to teaching this course and will ensure that you are well-prepared to launch into this exciting journey in the new school year.

The data science curriculum has now received “A-G” approval in California and two pilot units are already being trialed in classrooms across the country.  If you would like to learn more about trialing the course, please go to our sign up page, enter the same email address where you receive this newsletter, check the appropriate box(es) in the high school teacher section at the bottom, then click "I'm not a robot" and "submit."

We hope to see you this Saturday and/or this summer!

Viva la Revolution,
Jo and the youcubed team
