#DoGoodWeek & Mission Monday

Good Morning Womenade Friends! Today is Mission Monday - the first day of SHARE Omaha's #DoGoodWeek. SHARE Omaha has turned Omaha Gives! into a whole week of opportunities to "Do Good" in our community! And, it all starts today with Mission Monday and a little reminder about Womenade, what we do, and why you should want to do good with us. Stay tuned for more each day this week!

The only thing we ask of you today is a little better understanding of WHO we are so you can SHARE us with a friend or two - forward this email or share our Facebook and Instagram posts with anyone you think might be interested in our mission and getting involved to help Elkhorn kids. We appreciate your support!

Why Womenade?

Womenade is a non-profit, 501(c)3, organization that works confidentially with the Elkhorn Public Schools to help families in need or facing crisis

The organization, modeled after national and local Womenade groups, was started in 2004 by two Elkhorn principals working with a few parents to provide help for a handful of struggling families during the holidays. Our programs have grown and now assist hundreds of students and their families across all Elkhorn schools. Womenade of Elkhorn is managed by an Executive Board and has an active Guild and Junior Guild to help coordinate our programs and volunteer in the community. You can check out our Board and Guild Members HERE.

Womenade of Elkhorn is the “Pay It Forward” concept in its purist form. It is not unusual for a family Womenade of Elkhorn has helped get back on their feet then turn around and help us help someone else at a later time.

How Does Womenade Help the Community?

  • Urgent/Emergency Assistance for families who are struggling with job loss, illness, or other setbacks that make it difficult to fulfill their children’s basic needs. Principals and Counselors reach out to Womenade for help at a moment’s notice.
  • Busy Bee Reading Club is a program that provides new books to elementary students in need to encourage reading over the summer.
  • Backpack Program helps students in need receive brand new backpacks and school supplies before each school year. Over 200 students were served this year.
  • Celebration of Giving is a holiday mitten-tree gift program. Womenade works with the schools to get and fulfill wish lists for families needing a little holiday help. Over 300 students and their families were recipients this year thanks to support from many generous donors and volunteers.
  • Clothing Drives are coordinated as needed for the community to shop for gently used items for free.
