DETROIT -- Nicole Curtis says she paid $17,000 for a house in Detroit in 2017 and has made around $60,000 in repairs in the hopes of turning the once dilapidated house into a desirable property. Now she’s suing the Detroit Land Bank Authority for the property because it turns out the person who “sold” her the house didn’t actually have the right to do so, according to the Associated Press.

Q: Why did you want to become a lawyer?
I am sincerely passionate about helping people. Estate planning allows me to help others plan for their future! My type A personality and love for finances makes estate planning the perfect career for me!
Q: What was your favorite class in law school? Taxation Law! I am a total nerd and love all things financial.
Q: What is your favorite hobby? Traveling. Specifically anywhere with water, I am all in! My favorite places to date: Sydney, Australia and Santorini, Greece.
Q: Do you have any secret fears? I am keeping this one a secret.
