Trees

It's that time again! Submit your tree request info no later than June 1st.

How it works: You submit your info about your veteran-owned farm or property here. We connect you with the Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership staff, who links you with a local partner to assess your eligibility. Priority is given to projects that will positively impact soil health and water quality in the Chesapeake watershed, but other areas throughout PA will be considered. If you have a stream on your property or your land drains to a water source, you will likely be eligible.

Poised to Grow?
Cow with headphones listening to a podcastJason Frye of Pleasant Lane Farm, a three-generation dairy and artisan cheese farm was featured on a recent podcast from the Center for Dairy Excellence. He explains the importance of a solid business plan when you're looking for financing to grow. While their farm is dairy, his lessons learned on examining long-term sustainability, being open to new tech, business structure to manage risk, why a business plan doesn't need to be involved or fancy, and work/life balance when planning are well worth a listen.

USDA 2501 Grant program funds support our work. There's no charge for our services to eligible veterans/Guard/Reserve/military and their spouses. (Workshops may have a nominal fee.)  Information in this newsletter and on our website is for informational purposes only.
