Awards shows weren’t exactly the most exciting programming to behold even before the coronavirus pandemic came along and made them somewhat painful. So far, we’ve seen hybrid ceremonies for the Emmys and Golden Globes that have involved limited attendance and acceptance speeches on Zoom, but don’t expect the same nonsense when the 2021 Oscars come around.

The 93rd Academy Awards will air on Sunday, April 25, 2021 starting at 5:00 P.M. PST, and when the cameras start rolling, producer Steven Soderbergh says viewers will quickly see that he’s taking this opportunity to significantly shake up the awards show format. The Ocean’s 11 director said, “It’s going to feel like a movie in that there’s an overarching theme that’s articulated in different ways throughout the show. So the presenters are essentially the storytellers for each chapter. We want you to feel like you’re watching a show that was made by a small group of people that really attacked everything that feels generic or unnecessary or insincere.”

Well, if the producer of the Oscars says the telecast is going to feel "like a movie", why not watch the awards show at a movie theater on the big screen with big sound at 3Below!

Q: Will all precautions be taken to keep guests safe?
A: Absolutely. All guests will be required to follow all Covid-19 rules for attendance and participation. We have a dedicated page at our website with all of what we are doing to keep our patrons and staff safe and comply with county guidelines.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Come as you are OR use this as an opportunity to dress to the nines! Pull out your party clothes, come dressed as your favorite movie character, or come in your PJs if that's how you like watching the "tube." However you want to "do" the Oscars, is up to you!

Q: Will there be food?

A: The 3Below Cafe will be open for the entire event. Use your $15.00 voucher toward the purchase of popcorn, gourmet hot dogs, waffles, gelato, Waffelatos, espresso, wine, beer, soda, and more.
