HES Candid Night: Normalizing Failures Workshop
Wednesday, April 21st from 6:00 - 6:45pm
In the past, we've held an event called "Candid Night" where members talk about how HES is currently supporting its members, and how we can do better. However, we have historically used this time to share our personal experiences at the university to think of how we can collectively support each other.

Please join us this WEDNESDAY as we'll be having an open discussion about what it means to normalize failure at Cal. This is a great space to share your experiences and receive support! We hope to see you there <3 We will be raffling off gift cards to members who show up!!!!

HES x Boeing

Thursday, April 22nd from 6-7pm
Come with questions to hear from our ✨ AMAZING ✨ HES alum, Laura Lopez, Juan Rodriguez, and more Boeing representatives as they share their career paths and what they do at Boeing! This casual panel event is a great opportunity for HES members to ask questions about choosing job offers, post grad life, general tips about networking, applying to jobs, and MUCH more. See you Thursday!

Engineering and Ethics Forum
ESC is hosting a virtual student-led panel titled "Ethics and Engineering" on Thursday, April 22nd, from 6-7:30 pm PST.
We seek to: increase awareness of ethical issues within engineering, promote a greater emphasis on ethics as part of the engineering curriculum. and establish a platform that unites different efforts within the community.

With this event and future events of its kind, we want to prioritize input and direction from the student body. This is intended to be an open space for students to share their organization's ongoing efforts surrounding ethics within the engineering community, and to find points of collaboration with other organizations. See flyer for more info!

HES Garden

We are developing the HES student-run campus rooftop garden that intersects urban agriculture practices with technological systems (and other engineering/design aspects). The aim is to educate and provide HES active members with research and hands-on experiences (STEM and non-STEM) in team-oriented projects (with safety precautions). Also, one of the main goals is to increase accessibility and production of healthy foods. If interested, contact hestechgarden@gmail.com or aibarra20@berkeley.edu !!

HES Equity Team to Demand Changes

In the efforts to change L&S's and COE’s, and departments within both, diversity, equity, and inclusion, HES, with the help of Marvin Lopez (Director of Student Programs), is forming a team to have discussions and make requests to departments. We want to increase HES’s visibility within the colleges and demand policies that can help increase diversity, equity, and inclusion. This includes duties such as being involved in the hiring process for the Assistant Dean of Equity and Inclusion of COE and other faculty, to creating concrete and specific plans that can support COE’s, and the departments within, Latinx and Black students. If you are interested, please email guillermo.gonzalez@berkeley.edu
