Hello, you love lovely lot!

Let's just get straight to the nitty gritty.
People often tell me that they worry about going over the lines when they are colouring.
So it's time I came clean:
I GO OVER THE LINES ALL THE TIME! AND I DON'T CARE!

Go outside the lines!

Those outlines that I draw are a guide for your creativity, not a boundary.

Go over the lines, freestyle, add some stuff, blur the borders or stay firmly within those inky outlines - do whatever makes you happy and go in the direction that your creativity pulls you.

You should never feel constrained within a colouring book - it’s your work of art, so you make the rules.

Moreover, sometimes really interesting things happen when you DO go outside of the lines! This incredible picture by @black_aneri from Worlds of Wonder is a great example. When she saw this page she thought ‘Diagon Alley’ (Harry Potter for all you Muggles 😉).

I for one am SO glad Irena went over the lines - aren’t you?!

Problems picking your colours?

Yea, me too!
If you get a bit overwhelmed and indecisive when it comes to choosing colours here’s some top tips:

1️⃣ Try a limited colour palette. Pick 5 or 6 pencils, for example 3 shades of pink, a yellow and a green, then put the rest of the pack away! Less colours to choose from removes the overwhelm!

2️⃣ Colour the entire picture in just shades of the same colour. For example all blues. This is called monochrome and looks so cool!

3️⃣ Shift your mindset! There are no ‘right’ colours, only your colours! This is your creation so whichever colours you pick ARE the right colours! Own that.

Thank you to @color_me_crazy_2319 for this page from Worlds of Wonder - a peachy example of how beautiful and coherent a limited colour palette can look!

Inspiration not Intimidation!

Well, THIS is a wonder! I’m so massively inspired by the beautiful work of @lauramdnogueira - and grateful for her sharing lots of helpful work in progress photos of how she turned this humble black and white drawing in Worlds of Wonder into something rather incredible!

Remember though : Be inspired, not intimidated!

Laura clearly has pretty awesome skills, but you don’t have to colour the entire page or add the embellishments... you don’t even need to do any fancy techniques!

This is not math class. There is not one correct answer! However you chose to complete this page is EXACTLY right.
It doesn’t hurt to see the amazing work of others though - it’s a great way to inspire us to get better, try new things, hone our craft! 😉

Side note: ‘Hone’ is such an odd word, isn’t it?! Good luck slipping That into a sentence today. ‘I’m just off to hone my cake eating skills...'

Bite sized self care

Talking of cake... Little colouring pictures like these in Worlds of Wonder can be completed in 10minutes, for the days when life is busy but you want your fix of feel good vibes!

I love that feeling of satisfaction you get when you score a job off your To Do list.

It’s the ‘Ta Da!’ joy! 🤩

You get the same happy vibes when you complete a colouring picture - but some chapters of life are busy and getting to the end of a big, detailed page can seem daunting and overwhelming. So don’t. Instead look for one of these ‘Small Victory’ pages in my new book and colour ONE of those pictures instead. One cake. One house. One circus tent...

Self care isn’t all about bubble baths - it can be as simple as Coloring a cake whilst the baby naps or the pasta simmers.
