Domino's pizza delivery robots

Domino's is working together with robotics company Nuro to bring autonomous robot pizza deliveries to Houston. The robots were tested in 2020 and became the first autonomous delivery vehicle approved by the Department of Transportation to be used on public roads. "This program will allow us to better understand how customers respond to the deliveries, how they interact with the robot, and how it affects store operations," says Dennis Maloney, SVP & Chief Digital Officer at Domino's Pizza. Read more

Siemens and Google collaborate on factory automation

Siemens and Google announced a collaboration to integrate Google Cloud's data cloud and machine learning technologies into Siemens' factory automation offerings. According to Dominik Wee, Managing Director Global Automotive, Manufacturing and Energy at Google Cloud, "these solutions will address common factory automation use cases, such as quality control, energy efficiency, and more." Read more

Evonik becomes a member of MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab

Evonik became the world's first chemical company to participate at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab. "Bright minds from science and business are working jointly together on digital progress. We are delighted to be part of it," said Henrik Hahn, CDO of Evonik and CEO of Evonik Digital GmbH. Evonik and IBM already partnered on AI solutions for the research of high-performance polymers. Read more

Linux launched a blockchain-based insurance platform

The Linux Foundation and the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) are jointly working on a blockchain-based insurance platform. Linux Foundation announced on Monday the launch of the Open Insurance Data Link platform. The platform's goals are to reduce the cost of regulatory reporting for insurance carriers, provide a standardized data repository for analytics, and a connection point for third parties to deliver new applications to members. Read more

Bitcoin as storage for excess renewable electricity

Seetee (child company of Norwegian holding Aker) partnered with Blockstream to convert the excess renewable electricity to Bitcoin mining. Both companies also plan to leverage Bitcoin microtransactions with Lightning Network and Blockstream's Liquid network. Read more
