Greetings from Aillio

Hello, everyone. We decided it would be better if I (Jonas) wrote this one myself because this is a special newsletter for us. It marks a milestone for our company -- one that sees us returning to our roots.

Designed in Denmark, Built in Taiwan

Even though our operations up to now have been based in Taiwan, I always hoped that one day we could have a place in Denmark, since this is where Jacob and I are from.

In November, Steffen, a friend of mine who was one of the very first Bullet R1 users (serial #97), called me up to let me know he was leaving the corporate world after 27 years and now wanted to do something coffee-related. He called me the day before our Coffee Expo in Taipei, so there was a lot going through my head at the time. But a seed had been planted.

The very next day, my brother Rasmus called to vent his frustration with his job in Copenhagen. I joked that he should start working for Aillio…

The obvious idea then presented itself: Could these two gentlemen from Denmark form the backbone of a European operation?

Fast forward five months, and that's exactly what they've done. In Frederiskberg, which is more or less downtown Copenhagen, we now have a small service center, office, and showroom.

Welcome to the Team

Introductions are in order. Steffen, on the right, is an engineer and a coffee enthusiast who has been running his own roastery using a few R1s. He has been our go to guy in Denmark when we need help testing new firmware or hardware. Steffen is also quite active on the Danish community forums, answering questions and keeping stock of bean chute plugs and other spares to help out when he can.

Rasmus is my all-time favorite younger brother. (Perhaps only coincidentally, he's also my only younger brother.) He's the rare kind of person who can be fun and charismatic even while being brutally honest and straight-forward -- an excellent fit for Aillio. He's a coffee geek, too, but brand new to roasting, so it'll be fun teaching him the ropes.

So what happens now?

For now, Aillio Europe will primarily focus on the market in Scandinavia, which in the loosest terms means Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, but also Greenland and Iceland. Moving forward, however, we anticipate an even bigger role -- offering EU-wide support to the Aillio community.

A stronger presence for Aillio in Europe is not only welcome, it is necessary. This year, we obtained CE, which has opened the door for local distribution and for more businesses to begin relying on the Bullet for their operations. We want to ensure we can give the same positive after-sales experience we’ve always given.

The AiO in EU

Of course, this is good news for our current and future Bullet R1 users as it means that we will be able to provide even better support and quicker service as we move forward into 2021 and beyond. But perhaps even more important than support for the growing number of Bullet users in Europe is the AiO roll-out, which we are beginning to feel a sense of urgency about.

We want to make sure we can give our early adopters as much help as they need. The AiO is, after all, brand new and built for businesses. And there is really no better way to ease new users into roasting than having staff nearby.

Ordering from Aillio EU

For now, the website is only in Danish, but if you are in Denmark, Sweden, Norway or Finland and are looking for a Bullet R1, you can order directly from Denmark - www.aillio.dk

Orders from other countries will continue to go through your local distributor / reseller, or directly from us here in Taiwan -  www.aillio.com

That's all for now. Keep drinking great coffee.
