About the event:

When we hear the term ‘bots’, negative connotations come to mind - most of us automatically think it’s a dirty word. Sure, bots have gotten a bad rap, but perhaps unfairly so. After all, they’re just technology tools, neither good nor bad. It’s how they’re used that makes them beneficial, benign, or malicious.

The fact is, bots can be extremely beneficial. They can automate manual work and make us all more efficient. They are a vital component in driving our entire global market forward. For example, when it comes to collecting mission-critical mass-scale data, crucial for decision making, bots can simplify the process tremendously. Thanks to bots, this practice that would normally take weeks to complete, actually takes mere minutes.

If you think about it, the ability to use credit cards digitally makes our lives much easier. Sometimes this ability is taken advantage of and used for malicious purposes - does that mean we should stop using them digitally? Or does the solution actually lie in finding ways to protect its digital use?

The time has come to open up the conversation and rethink our opinion of bots. When it comes to fueling the digital economy, bots play a vital role - a role that enables efficient data collection and drives the data economy forward. In fact, Gartner predicts that by 2022, 70% of customer interactions will involve emerging technologies such as machine learning (ML) applications, chatbots and mobile messaging, up from 15% in 2018.

However, as mentioned previously, there can also be a dark side to bots - if they are misused (as with any new technological innovation). So, the question is - how do we protect our operations and ensure that the benefits of bots outweigh any attempt to use them “for bad.”

In this session, Or Lenchner, CEO of Bright Data and Nimrod Kozlovski, Partner & Head of Tech and Regulation at HFN & Herzog Strategic, will look at online data collection and discuss practical ways to safeguard your automated data collection process from those who wish to harm it.
