Vision Aiders Moment: Earth Day Give Away
Earth Day, April 22, 2021

Would you like to try something new?
I recently started using Eco friendly Tru Earth laundry strips.
I’m excited to say they work on everyday laundry!
For oil spots on my t-shirt, I dissolved a small piece in water and pre-treated the spots and it worked.
Someday soon, I’ll be trying them on rubbed in dirt and mud.

These laundry strips can be used in all machines including, he machines.

The Tru Earth laundry strips are made in Moncton and sold by a company in B.C. They can be bought at the Corn Crib. They come in fragrance free, baby and fresh linen scent. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. They come in a plastic free compostable cardboard sleeve.

Switching to laundry strips means:
No more jugs going to the landfill.  More space on the laundry shelf.
No measuring, no mess
94% less transportation pollution

“If everyone switched to Tru Earth Eco-strips, the annual eco-savings would be enormous:
  • Eliminate one billion plastic jugs (you read that right!), saving 700 million from going to landfills
  • Save truck fuel and CO2 equivalent to taking 27 million cars off the road for a day, or planting nine million trees “
They are easy to use. For a top-load washer place the strip inside the washer.  For front-load washer place strip in detergent dispenser (I tear the strip into smaller pieces.)

Important Survey - We want to hear from you!
The Community Hub project has partnered with Garden Cities to develop the landscape around the Community Hub and project possibilities for the Kitchen. Learn more about Garden Cities here:  https://gardencities.ca

The goal is to have the landscape 'feed' the community and create a space that the community (including Visions United) can both help and enjoy the benefits.
This is very different from simply community garden plots, but rather an integrated 'edible' landscape.

We would like you, as part of our Visions congregation, to fill out the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd_hCekUGsH8-oMzy1bjvJUhnGhre11D9WC1z9pYSONhMJ3WQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

The survey will help Garden Cities plan and design the landscape.

Let's add our voices!

Community Hub Construction Update - 21 April 21
The outside of the building is starting to get some finishings! Stone facade was added this past week on the front of the apartment side in two places. Delivery of the vinyl siding is expected soon.

The place we notice big changes are the apartments inside. Drywallers are busy taping and crack filling walls. Two pictures show the inside of an apartment on the first floor.

Construction on the hub side is more complex and at various stages. Additional insulation is being installed this week. Staging fills the multi-purpose room as work continues on the ductwork and drywalling the upper walls/ceiling area. This is a big space! Throughout the Hub, walls are framed and interior door frames are installed. By mid-May drywall should be complete on the Hub side. This picture shows the reception/waiting area. It will be a lovely space to host our Conversation Cafe on Sundays. The steel framed walls will be glass, so it will create an open, welcoming space as you enter the building.

Overall, construction on the apartment side is further ahead then the hub, but we are still predicting a completion date of August 1st.

Thank you, Emily! Today is Administrative Professionals Day. On behalf of the congregation, we say a big 'Thank -You' to Emily Smith, our Office Administrator. This past year, especially, we've counted on Emily's joyful and competent presence on the other end of the phone or computer, her twice weekly email newsletters keeping us connected, her awesome organizational and bookkeeping skills. We are blessed to have her as part of our Visions' team.
- A thank you on your behalf from your Ministry & Personnel Team & Rev. Shawn Redden
