3. East Lancashire Hospitals signed a deal with Alcidion, a smart health tech provider, for early warning technology and the purpose of this technology is to help detect patients who are deteriorating. The system is called Patientrack, which is being introduced to help staff intervene at an earlier stage in hope of preventing harm when patients show signs of worsening conditions which should allow for these patients to be provided with urgent attention. The tech will be utilised by nurses as observations are carried out, as it will integrate directly with bedside devices to capture patients’ vital signs. The system will also automatically calculate a patient’s early warning score before alerting clinicians if and when they need to take action.

A start-up company called HIT, has created new wearable technology with the aim of tackling head injuries in sport. The tech measures and tracks head impact force in sport and recreational activities to aid research and support informed decisions on the risk of brain injury. The device features an impact sensor which can be universally clipped onto any helmet or halo headband; this allows for G-Force to be detected and recording to take place via a companion app. The app also consists of a traffic light system, and records data to act as an early warning notification for the user regarding the level of impact force recorded and highlights the caution required in continued exercise.
