Honorees Selected for Native American Hall of Honor


BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota Native American Hall of Honor Committee, comprised of representatives from each of the five federally recognized tribes of North Dakota, has selected four recipients to be recognized in the North Dakota Native American Hall of Honor.

Located in the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck, the Native American Hall of Honor is an annual program and exhibit recognizing Native Americans who have gone above and beyond in representing their tribe and culture. The program is a partnership of the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission, the State Historical Society of North Dakota, and the State Historical Society Foundation. 

The program recognizes traditional and contemporary achievements. Nominees can be living or in memoriam. The 2021 inductees are being honored for achievements in the Military-Veteran, Leadership, and Legend award categories.

Dave Dauphinais, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa 
Lydia Sage Chase, Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation 
Mark Fox, Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation 
Sitting Bull, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe 
 
The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021. Information and objects relating to each inductee will be featured in the Hall of Honor exhibit at the State Museum.
